Presentations – 6 • January 15 – Participated in Breakfast with the City Manager, spoke on behalf of Heritage Programs and the preservation of the Conference Center and Annex buildings. • January 15 – Recorded a spot for Access Aggieland on Clear Channel Communications promoting the El Camino Real de los Tejas, Exploring History Lunch Lecture Series, Honoring our Mayors exhibit, Coffee with the Mayors, Project HOLD Open House. • January 18 – Exploring History Lunch Lecture Series, 104 guests, 22 comp’d (14-Lincoln Center, 8 speaker and staff), donations $400, meal cost $785.90. • January 22 – PARD Quarterly Staff Meeting for Supervisors; Presented El Camino Real de los Tejas, Texas in WWII Military Oral History Seminar, and “100 Years of Class” • January 30 – Hosted Project HOLD Open House; attended by approximately 40 guests including five mayors, two council members. • January 30 – Gave a live phone interview with Scott DeLucia, WTAW, regarding the “Coffee with the Mayors” and the Project HOLD Open House. Research Requests – 3 • Melanie Tobin, Wells Fargo Store Formats & Design, San Francisco, CA – Needed hi-res scans of several photos and captions from Project HOLD for a photo collage mural for one of their College Station banks. • Hilairie Kallendorf – Looking for information on recently purchased historic marker home, The Fitch House. Also requested a copy of the City of CS 50th Anniversary historical calendar. • Connie Hooks is trying to locate Ordinances 695 and 708 from the late 60s or early 70s. Unfound. Publicity –2 press releases; 16 viewings • Sent email to Heritage Programs database and media contacts regarding the El Camino Real de los Tejas on-site meeting, attended by 25 or more. • Sent email to Heritage Programs database and media contacts regarding the Exploring History Lunch Lecture Series. • Exploring History Lunch Lecture showing on CSTV-19 on Tuesdays, 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. • Attended PARD web meeting, Jan. 20. Oral History Interviews – 1 • January 6 – Phone interview with Mike Luther concerning Southside history. Publications –2 • Peggy Calliham sent a press release regarding “Coffee with the Mayors and Project HOLD Open House.” • Printed 100 of the updated Heritage Programs brochure. • Printed 500 of the updated Project HOLD luggage tags/bookmarks. Historic Markers – 0 • Currently, 85 Historic Home Markers, 8 Building Markers and 2 Historic Subject Markers • Presented historic marker #85 at the January 8 Council meeting to the Scasta family for 1203 Walton Drive. Community Outreach -6 • December 20 – Museum of the American G.I. Board Meeting; Brent Mullins’ home. • January 1 – Made a preliminary visit to the El Camino Real de los Tejas site in preparation for Jan. 13 meeting. • January 8 – Attended “A Salute to Tom Turbiville” benefitting Brazos Valley Natural History Museum. • January 12 – Attended Brazos County Historical Commission meeting. • January 14 – Attended Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial Board meeting. • January 15 – Attended Breakfast with the City Manager; Conference Center • January 21 – Attended the African American Heritage Museum Annual Banquet. INTERNAL Intern –0 hours No intern at this time. This would appear to be a meeting full of exciting and interesting dialog. Please keep me informed regarding the outcome of the meeting and of any future meetings that might be held.
