HomeMy WebLinkAbout3 Project HOLD Finding Aid Project HOLD Finding Aid The City of College Station has a legacy of preserving historical information related to the community, with the Historic Preservation Committee established in 1986 and enduring today. Project HOLD (Historic Online Library Database) was launched in 2003 to provide a digital platform for the public to interact with College Station’s history. There have been multiple archivists and historical projects throughout the years that contributed to the collection that exists today. This is a list of folders within Project HOLD to assist in finding the location of documents. Project HOLD is a collection that is continuously being added to and edited. This list is correct as of 07/30/2024 and may be updated in the future. Names should be inverted unless they are part of an official title: LastName, Suffix., FirstName Parenthesis may contain position, year, object type, notes, etc. Quotation marks may contain nicknames Names may include middle names or initials An award or publication title including a name would be an example of an exception to this rule. If conducting an advanced search, most of Project HOLD should be under the “Historic Preservation” template. There is a “Resource Type” field within this template that is currently undergoing edits to conform the collection to Nomenclature 4.0 (nomenclature.info) terminology if you are searching for a specific object type. If searching for a specific date, you can input a date range in the beginning of this template or utilize the “Subject Decade” options near the bottom. We are also working on adding demographic information to the collection to more easily identify historical groups within the College Station community, which would need to be added to a search through a separate “Ethnicity” field. Users can layer different search options through the “Customize Search” dropdown menu within the Advanced Search area. If you have any questions, please visit the Project HOLD website (https://www.cstx.gov/our_community/history/project_hold) for more information or to contact archival staff.  Introduction and Instructions  Books o Brazos County History Book – Brundidge  Brazos County Region History o Agriculture  Articles  Entomology  Farms  Horticulture  Livestock  Photos  Ranches  Steele’s Store  Texas A&M Experiment Station  Wildlife o Brazos County  Brazos County Land Surveys  Book 1  Book 2 o Business/Commercial  Banks  Chamber of Commerce  Commercial  Commercial – Early o Bryan o Northgate  Northgate Barbershop o Texas International Speedway  Commercial (1980s-Present) o CS—College Main Businesses o CS—University Drive Businesses  Hotels o LaSalle Hotel  Mining  Museums o Brazos Valley Children’s Museum o Brazos Valley African American Museum o Bush Presidential Library and Museum  Locomotives on Parade  Astin Mansion Train  Downtown Bryan Trains  George Bush Library Trains  Maps to Trains  Oil and Gas  Restaurants  Restaurants – Current o Kaspers’ Irish Pub and German Restaurant  Restaurants – Early o Fort Shiloh; Photos (2004)  Exterior Photos  Interior Photos o Handy Burger o Martin’s Barbecue  Retail  Retail – Current o Aggieland Flower Shop o Holick’s Boots o Pruitt’s Fabric and Beauty Shop  Retail – Early o Boyett’s Store o Charlie’s Grocery o Madeley’s Pharmacy o Montgomery Wards o Cemeteries  Brazos County  Internment Record, College Station Cemetery  Other  Private o Community  African American Community  Art  Valentines  Community Organizations  4-H Club  A&M Garden Club  AARP  American Heart Association  Arts Council of Brazos Valley  BCS Knights  Boy Scouts  Boys and Girls Club  Brazos 2020 Vision  Brazos County Bar Association  Brazos County Historical Commission o Agendas  2006  2007  2008  2009  2010 o Annual Reports o By-Laws o Commission Members o Correspondence o Grant Requests o In the News o Minutes  1987 – 1998  1999 – 2002  2006  2007  2008  2009  2010 o Organizational Structure o Press Releases o State Historic Markers  Reliance Church Cemetery  Brazos Genealogical Association o Brazos Genealogist  1979  1980  1981  1982  1983  1984  1985  1986  1987  1988  1989  1990  1991  1992  1993  1994  1995  1996  1997  1999  2000  2001  2002  2003  2004  2005  2006  2007  2008  Additional Genealogy Materials  Brazos Heritage Society  Brazos Valley Gun Club  Campus Study Club  College Bicycle Club  Compiled lists o 1986 lists  Daughters of the American Revolution o Frances Shock Henry  Daughters of the Republic of Texas  Delta Sigma Theta Sorority  Evening Garden Club  Follies Committee  Freemasons  Girl Scouts  Habitat for Humanity  Hispanic Forum  Junior League  Keep Brazos Beautiful  Kiwanis Club o 1944 – 1949  1944  1945  1946  1947  1948  1949 o 1950 – 1959  1950  1951  1952  1953  1934  1955  1956  1957  1958  1959 o 1960 – 1969  1960  1961  1962  1964  1966  1969 o 2008  League of Women Voters o Civil Defense File  Lincoln Center  Lions Club o Bryan Breakfast Club  LULAC  Millican Heritage Society  NAACP  New Notes Barbershop Quartet  Odd Fellows  Old Main Society  Organization Histories  Pi Beta Phi  Project Unity  Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)  Rotary  Salvation Army  Shiloh Club o 1800 Shiloh Club Book o 1923 Cash Ledger o Documents o Members o Photographs o Pics Shiloh Hall 1970’s o Shiloh Club Ledger  Shrine Club  Sister Cities o Kazan, Tatarstan Russia o Zua Zua, Mexico  Skydive Aggieland  Social Club  Texas General Land Office  Twin City Mission  United Daughters of the Confederacy  United Way  Voices for Children  YMCA  Community Sports  All Brazos Valley Teams  Baseball  Bryan Bees  Fishing  Hockey  Little League  Dance  Drama Theaters  Brazos Valley Youth Theatre  Bryan Theatre Company  Guion Hall  Stage Center  The Theatre Company  Events/Festivals  Arbor Day  Balls/Dances  Brazos Valley World Fest  Calvert Historical Foundation  Memorial Day 2007  MLK March 2006  Patriot Day  Plays  President Roosevelt Visit  Sesquicentennial Events for 1985  Texas Reds  The Big Event  Holidays  Christmas  Easter  New Year’s  Latina/o Community  Lifestyle  Local Stories  Bill Page’s Pages  People  Brides of Brazos o Brides of Brazos Exhibit o Whiteside-Lancaster Wedding  Wedding Photos  Families/Individuals o Adamson Family o Alexander, Nan and J.O.  A&M Collection  J.O.
