Comprehensive Plan Update Page 12 P&DS Expands Building a Better Community with You Inspector’?s Corner Upcoming Irrigation Requirements House Bill (HB) 1656, passed by the State Legislature
in 2007, mandates that a city with a population of more than 20,000 require an installer of an irrigation system to be licensed and obtain a permit from the city before installing an
irrigation system in the city or its extraterritorial jurisdiction. The bill also requires the city to regulate the design, installation, and operation of irrigation systems so that
water is used efficieentl in irrigating landscapes. The requirements set forth in HB 1656 will go into effect on January 1, 2009 and full implementation of HB 1656 will require substantial
changes to the irrigation system permitting and inspection processes. If you would like to learn more about these changes, please plan to attend an open meeting at 5:30 pm on Octobbe

you, the contractor, to complete the most common steps in the construction process at your convenience and all online. You can now schedule or reschedule inspections, view inspection
results, and access comments entered by our Building Inspectors on a 24/7 basis. To access and use this software go to http://bpinspect.cstx.gov and enter the permit number followed

process. ~ Reviewing the Progress of New Projects ~ This new software is also providing us the opportunity to to allow all individuals involved in a new project, as well as interested
citizens, the ability to access multiple facets of the new project’s process online. The following are just a few of the features you can access: the project’s name, location, contact
information for the owner, engineer, architect, etc., as well as staff’s review comments on all the plans submitted for the project. To access new projects go to http://pzonline.cstx.gov
