HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-1166 - Ordinance - 06/28/1979ORDINANCE NO. 1166 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TAX RELIEF AMENDMENT TO THE TEXAS CONSITUTION; PROVIDING REPEALING AND SEVERABILITY CLAUSES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL, COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: WHEREAS, Article 13, Section l(b) of Texas House Bill No. 1060,which implemented the tax relief amendment to the Texas Constitution within the State of Texas, provides that the governing body of a City by an Ordinance may prescribe that Articles 1 and 2 of House Bill 1060 shall not apply to such taxing unit for 1979 taxes; and WHEREAS, The City Council, City of College Station, has determined that implemen- tation of Articles 1 and 2 for the 1979 tax year would create a hardship to accomplish. NOW, THEREFORE, the City of College Station, Texas, does hereby prescribe that the provisions of Articles 1 and 2 of House Bill 1060 shall not apply within the City of College Station for 1979 taxes. Should any Section, Subsection, sentence, provision, clause or phrase hereof be held to be invalid, void or unconstitutional for any reason, such holding shall not be invalid, void or unconsitituional in any other sections, subsections, sentence, provision, clause or phrase of this Ordinance, same are deemed severalbe for this purpose. �.
