HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-0776 - Ordinance - 07/26/1971r_ ORDINANCE NO. 776 AN ORDINANCE SETTING A DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY BY THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF SUCH PUBLIC 1 HEARING: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: Section 1. On the 23rd day of August, 1971, at 7:00 p. m. o'clock, in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of College Station, Texas, the City Council will hold a public hearing giving all interested persons the right to appear and be heard on the proposed annexation by the City of College Station, Texas of the following described property, to -wit: Be ginning at the most easterly corner of a 6. 07 acre tract out of the Crawford Burnett League, said tract shown on a preliminary plat as Ponderosa Place; said corner further described as being in the west right of way line of State Highway 6 and also being a corner of the present city limit line, Thence in a southeasterly direction along the west right of way line of State Highway 6 a distance of 5,280 feet to a point for a corner, Thence in a southwesterly direction, perpendicular to the west right of way line of State Highway 6 a distance of 100 feet to a point for a corner, Thence in a northwesterly direction parallel to and 100 feet from the west right of way line of State Highway 6 an approximate distance of 5, 280 feet to a point for a corner, Thence in a northeasterly direction along the south property line of the aforementioned Ponderosa Place 6. 07 acre tract a distance of approximately 100 feet to the place of beginning and containing 12.2 acres of land more or less. Section 2. The Mayor of the City of College Station is hereby authorized and directed to cause notice of such public hearing to be published once in a newspaper having general circulation in the city and in the above described territory not more than twenty -days nor less than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing, all in accordance with the Municipal Annexation Act (Chapter 160, Acts of the 58th Legislature, Regular Session, 1963; compiled as 970a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes). Section 3. The importance of this ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity that the rule requiring ordinances to be read at three several meetings be suspended, and this rule i, hereby suspended, and the ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its adoption.
