Negro Raises Up in His Coffin and Asks for Daughter
Bryan, Texas, April 18 -Abe Reddin, an aged Negro, reported dead by
physicians who attended him, gave a few score of Negroes a fright here
yesterday when he rose up in his coffin and asked if his daughter had
arrived for the funeral. She had not yet arrived so Reddin °died"
again, or anyway he became unconscious. A few hours later, Reddin came
back to life to ask the mourners around his coffin a few more questions.
He received his replies in frightened tones. Then he °died" for
the third and last time. At least the physicians examined him and said
he was so dead that he couldn't possibly ask any more questions, and
the daughter arriving, the burial was held. Reddin had lain in his
coffin for three days. Negroes during the time he was °dying"and
coming back to life gave the house wide birth.
