Ernie Wright, Bill Lancaster and Haskell Monroe
Approved Absence: Marguerite Anthony, Neal Nutall
Staff Attendance: Anne Boykin, Historic Preservation Intern.
Agenda Item #1: Call to Order
Meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m.
Agenda Item #2: Absence Request
Hillary reminded the group that Marguerite Anthony's absence was approved due to the
death of her mother.
Agenda Item #3: Hear Visitors

Agenda Item #4: Approval of the minutes
Bill Lancaster noted the misspelling of Horace Shafer in Agenda Item #9. Bill Lancaster
made the motion and Meredith Waller seconded the approval of the corrected minutes
from the January 8, 2007 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
Agenda Item #5: Report on responses to Requests for Qualifications.
Lindsay Boyer presented proposals from Architexas and Quimby McCoy Preservation
Architecture. The proposals are in reference to consulting services for the historic
inventory and survey and the historic district enabling ordinance. A selection will be
announced once the contract negotiations are complete.
Project updates
Agenda Item #6 Exploring History Lunch Lectures
Next lecture is scheduled for February 21, 2007, with Jeff Carroll, Texas History professor
from Blinn College. Anne reported that the postcards have been printed and will be
mailed on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Anne reported that Lou Hodges is the man who is compiling a history of the Recreation
and Parks Department at A&M and that he might be a good speaker. Hillary and Ernie
agreed to meet and try to firm up this list of speakers in the next month.
Agenda Item #7 Project Hold
Anne reported that the “Moment in History” newsletter concerning “Desegregation in
A&M Consolidated School District” has been very well received.
Anne further reported that the “Panther Pride” exhibit has led to a KBTX-TV interview
with Coach Delley by Pachatta Pope.
Further discussions were held concerning Project HOLD’s collaboration with the Cushing
Library archives and website. Rebecca Hankins, contact person for Cushing Library, is
especially interested in collaborating on the oral histories. Anne will keep Bill and
Haskell in the loop on this because they are working on the oral history project.
Agenda Item # 8: Oral History Project
Brief discussion was held concerning location of original files, videos and cassettes. Anne
reported that they are in the Project HOLD office on top of a tall bookcase. Anne agreed
to explore the possibility of storing the videos and cassettes in the fireproof safe in the
care of Information Services.
Agenda Item # 9: Historic Preservation Committee
Hillary handed out the “HPC Identified Strategies for 2007-2008”. Committee members
are to define their goals Hillary urged the committee members to get together with
their task team, define their goals and submit them within the next two weeks.
Agenda Item # 10: March Lunch Lecture
Several names were mentioned as possible lecturers: Gary Halter (former mayor), Bob
Waters (Methodist minister), the Buck Weirus family (Aggieland Orchestra).

Agenda Item # 12: Final Hear Visitors
Marci Rodgers stated that she has scheduled members of the Senior Advisory Committee
to man the check-in tables at the Exploring History Lunch Lecture Series.
Agenda Item #13: Future Agenda Items
Hillary mentioned that her neighborhood of Oakwood would be hosting a meeting to
determine solutions for the street parking problem. Anne asked for future discussions of
the HPC involvement in the 60s Decade Reunion.
Agenda Item # 14: Adjourn
At 5:20pm Bill Lancaster made the motion to adjourn and Colleen Risinger seconded the
motion.
