She has begun the listing of the 1860 census. There are some things that need an explanation about this census. Brazos County was listed by the same Enumerator.as Robertson County and the two counties were on the same report. Robertson County is listed on pages 1 -69 (enumerator numbering) and Brazos County begins with page 70 through 113. Page 113 has the statement that Robertson and Brazos Counties have 112 pages and is dated 17 September 1860. It is signed by G.H. LOVE, Asst. Marshall and Isaac LLOYD, J.P. The two counties have been separated in microfilming and the page numbers are not filmed consecutively. For example: Brazos County begins (on the film) with page 108, 109 and the'next ones are 96 -99, then goes back to 70, 71, then 86 -95 and so forth. Robertson County is done the same wayl- -and if this explanation is confused, you should try reading it3! We will pub® fish it by the enumerator page numbers so it will be printed as he originally recorded it. There will be notations as to the printed number (on the right side of every other page) as this will be the finding number on the microfilm roll. We will continue in future editions of the ADVERTISER. Bill PAGE's presentation at our regular August meeting brought more good information about sources /resources in the Texas A & Is7 Library. His topic was: POSSIBLE SOURCES FREQUENTLY MISSED BY GENEALOGISTS 1. Presidential Papers: The Library has collections of Presidential. Papers for about half the presidents prior to Woodrow Wilson on on microfilm. A major part of these collections consists of letters to and from the presidents. These papers are indexed by name of cor- respondent. Although they only rarely contain any genealogical information, they may be useful in some cases for providing names (and addresses) for missing relatives. Examples: (from Index to the James K. POLK Papers) NAUDAZN, A. to JK P Oct 3o 1838 Series 2, 2 p. NAUDAIN, W.M. to JKP Ag. 19, 1844 Series 2, 3P. 2. Typical listing: "ARIdIISTEAD- BLANTON- WALLACE family papers, 1790 -1939. 549 items. In Virginia Historical Society collection." Entry also contains a brief description of the collection (whether it is business papers, diaries, letters, etc.) 5. Religious Records: The Library does have some useful holdings in this area, although the collection is not extensive. Two call number ranges should be checked: the "BX" classification (6th floor) and the 11280 -290" (Dewey) classification. (Bill also said the books classified with the Dewey numbers were leaving the 6th floor and going back to the old stacks.)
