Aline Brogdon passed away on
March 16, 2006, in San Antonio,
Texas at the age of 100 years
old. She was born on January
26, 1906 in Bryan and lived
there 98 years until she moved
to San Antonio to be close to
her niece. Her family roots in
Brazos County date back to the
early 1800's. Her parents Daisy
Montgomery and Ruben Brogdon, her
sister Daisy with whom she lived for,over
97 years, and sisters Elizabeth Brogdon Turbeville and Mavis Brogdon
Davis, predeceased her. Aline graduated from Bryan High School and The
University of Texas in Austin. Upon graduation she returned to Bryan
where she began a 52-year career at Bryan Building and Loan and became,
. Vice President and Secretary and was often referred to as "the First Lady
of Finance". She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church.
Aline was the first woman in Texas to serve as foreman of a grand jury, and
she served as director of the Chamber of Commerce, United Fund, Twin
City Mission, Rehabilitation Center and was a member of the Library
Board at Texas A&M University. Throughout her life she was an avid
collector of antiques. Her nieces Peggy Davis Colglazier of San Antonio
and Elizabeth Turbeville Baker of Fort Worth, nephew Jack Turbeville of
Fort Worth, and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and
nephews survive her. Very special to her were John Albert Colglazier, Jr.
and Elizabeth Colglazier Boddy, both of San Antonio.
,Graveside services will be held Monday March 20, 2006 at Bryan 'City
Cemetery at 1 :30pm.
