Staff Present: Kelsey Heiden, Parks and Recreation Director; Andrea Lauer, Business Services Manager; Luis Perez, Recreation Supervisor

Council Members Present: None
Call meeting to order and consider absence requests.
With a quorum present, the Historic Preservation Committee was called to order by Gerald Burgner on Monday, December 04, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Jessica Williams, and
a second by Tre Watson, the HPC voted unanimously to approve the absence requests for Tom Turbiville and Ben White. Gary Halter was unexcused.
Hear visitors. None.
Agenda Items
3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from the previous meeting.
Upon a motion made by Lou Hodges and a second by Sherry Frisk, the HPC
voted unanimously to approve the minutes as written.
3.2
Cemetery
Sherry Frisk mentioned that she will be volunteering at Wreaths Across America, December 16th at 11 a.m. at Memorial Cemetery of College Station.
Historical Marker Program/Project HOLD Report
Application for 208 Timber was tabled to next meeting for clarification since the applicant was not in attendance. Meaghan was not present to give updates regarding Oral History Interviews,
Educational Initiatives or Project HOLD.
Exploring History Lunch Series
2024 has three dates left to schedule, Mr. Turbiville is continuing his efforts to find speakers.
American Mile
Meaghan is working on complete list of American Mile content and will bring it back to a future meeting.
America’s 250
The date for the Never Forget Garden dedication is set for May 21, 2024.
Lisa Mouton mentioned that when she was traveling out of state, she saw banners representing Hometown Heroes that were hung on downtown main street of the city she was visiting. She
thought that might be a good idea to bring to College Station, the website is hometownheroesbanners.com
McCullough Neighborhood interviews
Barbara Moore is in the process of scheduling.
3.3 Report by the Liaison of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining
to the Historic Preservation Board.
Due to the January meeting falling on New Year’s Day the meeting has been cancelled and will meet on February 5th.
3.4 Identification of upcoming local or area historical programs
Wreaths Across America is on December 16th at 11 a.m. at Memorial
Cemetery of College Station.
Winter on the Front is on December 9th at the Museum of the America G.I.
Discussion and possible action of future agenda items.
