The district's recommen ed calendar choice provide winter break that lasts frc Dec. 18 to Jan. 1, with teat ers returning Jan. 2 and si dents Jan. 3. If the first day school is later, the fii semester will not end un after students return frc their break. Two other calendar optio also have been developed, one with an Aug. 16 start date and the other with an Aug. 21 start date. Final examinations would not be taken until students returned from winter break, and teachers could give assignments for students to complete over the holidays. Coulson said trustees will continue to review the calen- dar options. The school district cannot submit its waiver appli- cation to the TEA until March.
