1. Call meeting to order and consider absence requests.
With a quorum present, the Historic Preservation Committee was called to order by Lou Hodges on Tuesday, November 06, 2023, at 4:03 p.m. No
absence requests were received. Gary Halter was unexcused.
2. Hear visitors. None.
3. Agenda Items
3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from
the previous meeting.
Upon a motion from Sherry Frisk and a second by Ben White, the Historic
Preservation Committee approved the minutes as written for October 02, 2023. 3.2
A. Cemetery Sherry Frisk volunteered to assist with putting the flags on Veteran’s
graves for Veteran’s Day. The headstones in Shiloh are in bad shape and
she wants to clean them up but knows she needs permission from
owners. This is ongoing and she will get back with the committee.
B. Historical Marker Program/Project HOLD Report
Application for 311 Sulfolk was approved as a Structure Marker, Meaghan
will send them an email letting them know and get it scheduled for Council. An application for 208 Timber (Campus House) will be presented
at the next meeting. Meaghan is working on coordinating the pickup of
items loaned during the 85th Anniversary.
C. Exploring History Lunch Series
Tom Turbiville reported that WTAW was added for October 2024. He has 3
months in 2024 that need speakers.
D. American Mile
Meaghan is working on complete list of American Mile content and will
bring it back to a future meeting.

E. America’s 250 Sherry Frisk stated that due to cracks in the newly poured concrete the
contractor has completely removed the site and repoured it this week.
The date for the dedication is set for May 21, 2024.
F. McCullough Neighborhood interviews
Barbara Moore is in the process of scheduling.
3.3 Report by the Liaison of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining
to the Historic Preservation Board.
None
3.4 Identification of upcoming local or area historical programs
Veteran’s Day Program at Veteran’s Park Sunday November 11th @ 4 p.m.
Lisa Mouton updated the Committee on the FamilySearch Open House, Tre Watson was at the table with her. The event was well attended with about
70 people. They will have another event in the spring.
4. Discussion and possible action of future agenda items.
Discuss additions to the American Mile. 5. Presentation of historical items
Items were passed around.
6. Adjourn.
Upon a motion from Tom Turbiville and a second by Tre Watson, the Historic
Preservation Committee adjourned the meeting @ 5:13 p.m., the motion
passed unanimously.
