Council Members Present: None
Call meeting to order and consider absence requests.
With a quorum present, the History Preservation Committee Board was called to order by Lou Hodges on Thursday, September 07, 2023, at 4:06 p.m. Tom Turbiville requested an absence.
Upon a motion from Sherry Frisk and a second by Lou Hodges the Historic Preservation Committee voted to approve the absence request. The motion passed unanimously.
Hear visitors. None.
Agenda Items
3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from the previous meeting.
Upon a motion from Sherry Frisk and a second by Ben White, the Historic
Preservation Committee approved the minutes as written for August 07,
2023.
3.2
Cemetery
Sherry Frisk mentioned that the Dedication for the State Marker is set for September 8th @ 10 a.m. this date is also the Southside 100th Anniversary. Sherry wanted to thank the Parks
Department for working with her regarding the set up.
Historical Marker Program
A marker application was sent in for 311 Suffolk, the committee needed some more information, a motion was made by Lou Hodges and a second by Ben White to table the application until
the information is received.
Exploring History Lunch Series
Sherry Frisk is speaking on the Never Forget Garden.
Project HOLD Report
Meaghan O’Rourke has updated the list of Historical Markers in Project Hold. She has a couple of marker applications that need more information before they go to the Committee for approval.
She is also working on a search engine in Project Hold.

America’s 250
Sherry Frisk is submitting the brick order next week, and they have 2 8X8 bricks left to purchase.
85th Birthday of City of College Station
The date has been moved to Wednesday October 18th; Jessica is working on details of the scavenger hunt. The Committee will work together to schedule time to receive items from the public
that will be on display during the event.
3.3 Report by the Liaison of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining
to the Historic Preservation Board.

3.4 Identification of upcoming local or area historical programs
Boonville Days is October 14th.
FamilySearch Center Open House October 21, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Discussion and possible action of future agenda items.
Discuss additions to the American Mile.

Items were passed around.
Adjourn.
Upon a motion from Sherry Frisk and a second from Tre Watson, the Historic Preservation Committee adjourned the meeting @ 5:10 p.m., the motion passed unanimously.
