HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-2136 - Ordinance - 07/13/1995ORDINANCE NO. 2136 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 4, SECTIONS 3A and 3B, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION RELATING TO PARADES AND MOTORCADES. WHEREAS, the City of College Station periodically reviews it ordinances; and WHEREAS, the City of College Station makes necessary amendment to its ordinance; and WHEREAS, the City of College Station deems it necessary that changes be made to its ordinance relating to parades and motorcades; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION: That Chapter 4, Sections 3A and 3B, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of College Station relating to parades and motorcades is hereby amended to read as follows: "SECTION 3: PARADES AND MOTORCADES A. DEFINITIONS (1) Parade. Parade means any march or procession consisting of people, animals or vehicles, or a combination thereof, including athletic events upon any public street, sidewalk or alley which does not comply with normal or usual traffic regulations or controls, and requires closing any part of the roadway to normal traffic. (2) Motorcade. Motorcade means any organized procession of vehicles, upon any public street, sidewalk or alley that would need to disregard normal traffic control devices to proceed but would not require the closing of the street, sidewalk, or alley to other traffic. B. PERMITS It shall be unlawful for any person to conduct a parade in or upon any public street, sidewalk or alley in the City, or knowingly participate in any such parade unless and until a permit to conduct such parade has been obtained from the Building Official or as hereinafter provided from the City Manager. js/c/ordman/fu.eral 07/13/95 Ordinance No. 2 ].36 Page 2 (2) Motorcades It shall be unlawful for any person to conduct a motorcade in or upon any public street, sidewalk or alley in the City, or knowingly participate in any motorcade without an escort provided by peace officers or federal law enforcement officers. No permit shall be required." II. This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval by the City Council and duly attested by the Mayor and City Secretary.
