1. Call meeting to order and consider absence requests.
With a quorum present, the History Preservation Committee Board was called to order by
Chair Gerald Burgner on Monday, February 6th, 2023. No absence was requested.
2. Hear visitors. None.
3. Agenda Items
3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from the previous
meeting.
The minutes were approved. All were in favor, and the vote passed unanimously.
A. Cemetery
Sherry Frisk gave an overview on the projects that have been worked on for the cemetery.
The Texas Historical Plaque should be arriving soon and will be installed at the College
Station Cemetery. She would like to plan a dedication for some time in December 2023.
B. Historical Marker Program – There are currently no applications. Being that a
requirement of a home being 50 years old and hold some historical significance there has
been an opening of location passing the southwest parkway area. It was discussed the
pricing on the current markers and how that may become a deterrent when applying for
their home. It was discussed that instead of the bronze plaque that the committee change
to another type of material to offset the cost. It was also suggested that we provide a
payment plan. Reena Gonzalez will be seeking information on additional material types for
new plaques. We currently have plaque number 112 and 113 at the previous price and 114
to 123 at the new pricing.
C. Exploring History Lunch Series
It was suggested that a new member take on this role. Previously it was William Wright
who had taken on this role and planned out the upcoming year of lunch series. It has seen
an increase in participation with the variety of speakers.
D. Project HOLD Report
The report was provided to the committee from Meghan O’Rourke. She did an interview
with Carl Mooney and is working on transcribing it now.

She completed the THC grant for funding archival materials budget. Regarding the City
Hall display cases, cabinet lighting will be pursued buy the city.
E. McCulloch Neighborhood Interviews
Meghan O’Rourke stated in her report that she is working with B. Moore, C. Johnson, and
M. Beal to interview local members of the community. The goal would be to have these
interviews completed by June 2023.
85th Birthday of City of College Station
Lisa Mouton and Tre Watson would like to work in conjunction with Meaghan O’Rourke on
the historical display at city hall.
F. America’s 250
Sherry Frisk described the project to the new members and what the goal of the project
was financially.
4.2 Presentation and discussion on a report from the Parks and Recreation Liaison.
No update.
4.3 Presentation of historical items
Lou Hodges showcased a coin that displayed with significant roman numerals.
4. Adjourn and Closing
Sherry Frisk motioned to adjourn the Historic Committee Board Meeting. Ben White seconded
the motion, and all carried in a unanimous vote. The next HPC meeting is scheduled for
Monday, March 6th, 2023.
