AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1, SECTION 27 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, ADOPTING
THE RETENTION SCHEDULES ISSUED BY ~ TEXAS STATE LIBRARY
AND ARCHIVES COMMISSION FOR USE IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION'S RECORDS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, in 1987 the City of College Station City Council provided for the addition
of Section 27 in the College Station Code of Ordinances pertaining to the records
management program to meet the provisions of the Local Government Records Act;
WItEREAS, the City of College Station City Council adopted Retention Schedule I in
1989 and Retention Schedule II in 1994 for utilization in its records management
program;
WHEREAS, it is the duty of the City Secretary to administer the records management
program and monitor the records retention schedules and administrative rules issued by
the Texas State Library to determine if the city's program is in compliance with the state
and federal regulations; and,
WHEREAS, the City Secretary acting in her capacity as the Records Management
Officer has determined that the existing monitoring process is not efficient; now,
therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS:
PART 1:
That the City Council hereby repeals the schedules that are currently
utilized and hereby adopts the record control schedules issued by the
Texas State Library.
PART 2:
That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Secretary to submit the
proper forms notifying the State of this action.
PART 3:
That ail ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of
this ordinance are hereby repealed.
PART 4:
That this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and aider its date of
passage.
