AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, ORDERING A
GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION ON
SATURDAY, MAY 5, 2001 FOR THE ELECTION OF COUNCILMAN PLACE 1,
COUNCILMAN PLACE 3, AND COUNCILMAN PLACE 5.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS:
PART
1: That a General Election shall be and the same is hereby ordered to be held on
the first Saturday in May, 2001, the same being May 5, 2001 for the purpose of
electing Councilmembers Places 1, 3, and 5. The election shall be held under the
provisions of the laws of the State of Texas governing general elections and only
duly qualified voters of the City of College Station shall be allowed to vote in this
election.
PART
2: That said election shall be held in conjunction with the College Station
Independent School District Board of Trustees Election, whereby an election
precinct is to be served by a common polling place and election judges. A single
ballot form at each polling place shall be used; provided, however, that no voter
shall be given a ballot containing any office or proposition on which the voter is
ineligible to vote. The polls shall be opened promptly at 7:00 a.m. and shall be
closed promptly at 7:00 p.m.
The office of the City Secretary shall perform all duties normally performed by the
County Clerk in general elections with respect to early voting, giving notice of
election, and preparing the official ballots.
PART
3: That early voting shall be conducted by personal appearance and by mail. The
main early voting polling place by personal appearance shall be in the City Hall
Training Room, 1101 Texas Avenue, College Station, Texas, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Two branch early voting locations shall be held at the College Station Independent
School District Administration Building, 1812 Welsh in College Station, 8:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m., and Bryan City Hall, 300 South Texas Avenue, Bryan, 8:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. The period for early voting shall be Wednesday, April 18, 2001 through
Tuesday, May 1,2001. Applications for ballot by mail shall be received beginning
Tuesday, March 6, 2001 and last day to receive applications by mail is Friday,
April 27, 2001. The Early Voting Clerk for said election shall be the City
Secretary. She shall appoint city employees and additional assistance by qualified
individuals of the community to serve as deputy early voting clerks to assist her at
the early voting polling places. The Election Coordinator for the College Station

Independent School District shall also serve as Deputy Early Voting Clerk in said
election.
PART 4: That punch card voting machines shall be used for voting at the foregoing
election precincts and electronic counting devices and equipment shall be used for
counting the ballots at said election.
PART
5: That the Mayor of the City of College Station is hereby authorized to sign an
official NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION as set forth in a form prescribed by
the Secretary of State of Texas; and a copy of the NOTICE OF GENERAL
ELECTION, when published in a newspaper of general circulation in English and
Spanish the City of College Station, shall serve as proper notice of the election.

Notice is hereby given that the polling places listed below serve as city election precincts
and will be open fi.om 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2001, for voting in the
city/school general election to elect a City Councilman Place 1, City Councilman Place 3,
City Councilman Place 5 and College Station Board of Trustees Places 3, 4, and 5.

Early Voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday beginning
Wednesday, April 18, 2001 and ending Tuesday, May 1,2001 at the College Station City
Hall, 1101 Texas Avenue, College Station, Texas, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and
5:00 p.m.; College Station Independent School District Administration building, 1812
Welsh, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.; and Bryan City Hall, 300 South
Texas Avenue, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (for voters who reside in
Precincts 27, 29, 64 and 75 in Bryan Independent School District and City of College
Station).

QUE SEA ORDENADO POR EL CONSEJO MUNICIPAL DE LA CIUDAD DE
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS:
SECClON I Que una Elecci(~n General sera, y la misma esta ordenada Ilevarse
a cabo el primer Sabado en Mayo, 2001, siendo ese dia el 5 de Mayo de 2001,
para el propOsito de elegir Consejeros Municipales Lugares 1, 3, y 5. La
elecci(3n se Ilevara a cabo bajo las provisiones de las leyes del Estado de Texas
governando elecciones generales y solamente votadores calificados que son
residentes de College Station seran permitidos votar en esta elecci6n.
SECClON 2 Dicha elecci6n se Ilevara a cabo en conjunto con la EleccE)n del
Consejo Directivo del Distrito Independiente Escolar de College Station, en Io
que los precintos electomles seran servidos por jueces electorales y un lugar
com[3n de eleccibn. Una boleta electoral en cada precinto electoral sera
utilizada, pero ning[3n votante inelegible para votar en alguna pmposicibn u
oficina sera otorgado una boleta electoral. Los pmcintos electorales abriran a
las 7:00 a.m. y cerraran a las 7:00 p.m.
La oficina de la Secretaria Municipal debera de Ilevar a cabo las laboms que
usualmente hace el Secretario del Condado en elecciones generales con mspeto
a votaciones anticipadas, dar notificaciones de elecci~)n, y la preparacE)n de las
boletas electomles oficiales.
SECClON 3 La votaci(~n anticipada se Ilevara a cabo por presencia personal y
por correo. El lugar principal de votacibn por pmsencia personal sera en el
Cuarto de Entmnamiento del Edificio Municipal de la Ciudad de College Station,
1101 Texas Avenue, College Station, Texas, de 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.. Dos
lugares secundarios de votaci~)n por presencia personal seran el Edificio
Administrativo del Distrito Escolar de College Station, 1812 Welsh, de 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m. y el Edificio Municipal de Bryan, 300 South Texas Avenue, Bryan,
Texas 77805, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. El periodo de votacE)n anticipada permitido
o autorizado por la ley es del Mi~rcoles, 18 de Abril, 2001 hasta el Martes, 1 de
Mayo, 2001. El ~ltimo dia para mcibir aplicaciones para votacE)n anticipada por
cormo sera el Viernes, 27 de Abril, 2001. La Secretaria de Votaci0n Anticipada
para dicha elecci(~n sera la Secretaria Municipal. Ella designara empleados
municipales y asistencia de otms individuos de la comunidad calificados como
diputados de votaciOn anticipada para asistirla en los lugares de votaci0n

dicha elecci{)n.
SECClON 4 Las maquinas marca tarjetas ser.~n utilizadas para votaci(~n en
dichos lugares electorales y equipo electr(~nico de conteo sera utilizado para
contar las boletas en dicha eleccE)n.
SECClON 5: La Alcaldeza de la Ciudad de College Station esta autorizada
firmar una NOTIFIC^CION OFIClAL DE ELECClON GENERAL como prescrito
en el formulario otorgado por la Secretaria de Estado del estado de Texas, y una
copia de dicha NOTIFICAClON DE ELECCl0N GENERAL, cuando publicado en
un peri~dico de circulaci~n general en la Ciudad de College Station, servira
como notificacion adecuada de la eleccE)n ordenada por este Decreto Municipal.
