HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-2582 - Ordinance - 09/26/2002ORDINANCE NO. 2582 AN ORDINANCE LEVYING THE AD VALOREM TAXES FOR THE USE AND SUPPORT OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE GENERAL DEBT SERVICE FUND FOR THE YEAR 2002-03 AND APPORTIONING EACH LEVY FOR THE SPECIFIC PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby levied and there shall be collected for the use and support of the municipal government of the City of College Station, Texas, and to provide General Debt Service for the 2002-03 fiscal year upon all property, real, personal and mixed within the corporate limits of said city subject to taxation, a tax of forty-seven and seventy seven hundredths cents ($0.4777) on each one hundred dollar ($100.00) valuation of property, and said tax being so levied and apportioned to the specific purpose herein set forth: For the maintenance and support of the general government (General Fund), nineteen and forty-six hundredths cents ($0.1946) on each one hundred dollar ($100.00) valuation of property; and For the general obligation debt service (Debt Service Fund), twenty-eight and thirty-one hundredths cents ($0.2831) on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) valuation of property to be used for principal and interest payments on bonds and other obligations of the fund. SECTION II. All moneys collected under this ordinance for the specific items therein named, shall be and the same are hereby appropriated and set apart for the specific purpose indicated in each item and the Assessor and Collector of Taxes and the Director of Fiscal Services shall keep these accounts so as to readily and distinctly show the amount collected, the amounts expended and the amount on hand at any time, belonging to such funds. It is hereby made the duty of the Tax Assessor and Collector to deliver a statement at the time of depositing any money, showing from what source such taxes were received and to what account (General Fund or General Debt Service Fund) the funds were deposited. SECTION III. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 26th DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2002.
