AN ORDINANCE RENAMING ROCK PRAIRIE ROAD, FROM THE ROCK PRAIRIE
EXTENSION TO THE STATE HIGHWAY 6 EAST FRONTAGE ROAD, WITHIN THE
CITY LIMITS OF COLLEGE STATION, TO OLD ROCK PRAIRIE ROAD.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS:
PART 1:
The City is currently constructing a realignment of Rock Prairie Road
from the State 6 Highway East Frontage Road to Stonebrook Drive.
PART 2:
The City has determined that a need exists to rename a portion of Rock
Prairie Road from the Rock Prairie Road extension to the State
Highway 6 East frontage road, to avoid the potential for confusion in the
delivery of emergency services (i.e., 911, police and fire).
PART 3:
The property owners on the street to be renamed have been notified in
writing and given the opportunity to suggest alternate names or
otherwise respond to the name change.
PART 4:
Having determined that the current residents and other affected parties
would ultimately benefit from the change because it would reduce the
potential of emergency vehicles responding to incorrect addresses.
PART 5:
That this ordinance shall become effective ten (10) days after the date
of passage by the City Council, as provided by Section 35 of the
Charter of the City of College Station.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 23rd day of May, 2002.
