On the Death of
ERNEST LANGFORD
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, recognizes
with respect and a great sense of loss that Ernest Langford, a beloved
citizen, passed away on Monday, September 14, 1981; and
WHEREAS, Ernest Langford was one of the original founders of the City of
College Station in 1938; and
WHEREAS, Ernest Langford served the City of College Station for 24 years
as Mayor; and
WHEREAS, the City of College Station does today reflect the integrity,
responsibility and concern for the citizens' health and welfare that was
generated by Ernest Langford's life; and
WHEREAS, Ernest Langford will be forever remembered and cherished for
his educational accomplishments, his civic guidance and his leadership;
and
WHEREAS, Ernest Langford was the embodiment of the word "gentleman" for
all his life; and
WHEREAS, the impact of his life upon this City and its people will be
remembered, respected and cherished.
NOW, THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that this Council record its love,
respect, admiration, and grateful appreciation for the life of Ernest
Langford and that this resolution be made a part of the minutes of this
meeting and that a copy of this resolution be delivered by the Mayor
to Mrs. Langford, who survives Ernest with the children, grandchildren
and greatgrandchildren.
