called 29th Street is expected
to be underway in thirty days,

reported today. Major delay in
taking earlier action, the mayor
said, was due to engineering
work over which the city had
no control. This proposed con-
struction was approved by the
citizens in the last bond issue.
Finalization of action for land
acquisition was taken at a joint
meeting of the City Council and,
Planning and Zoning Commis-
sion on Wednesday, Anderson
reported.
In regard to the city hall and
fire station, the architect will
shortly present plans to the City
Council, the mayor said, in re-1
porting on progress on this mat-
ter. "I have hopes we can get
construction underway in a few
months," he reported.
We have fulfilled our obliga-
tion to the East By -Pass, al-
though there are two tracts still
in litigation, he went on to say.
The contract for County Road
from Glade Street to State High-
way 6 has been awarded with
construction well underway, he
concluded.
