T. R. (Nikkie) Holleman, ar-
chitecture professor at Texas
A&M University. and member of
the College Station City Council,
died Friday night at his home
of an apparent heart attack.
Services will be held at 2 p.m.
today at the Hillier Funeral
Chapel with burial in the Ma-
sonic Cemetery at Caldwell.
Professor Holleman, 52, join-
ed the A&M Faculty in 1946 aft-
er serving as a submarine of-
ficer during World War II. He
was promoted to professor in
1957 and a year later was nam-
ed head of the then Division of
Architecture. He requested re-
turn to full time teaching duties
in 1963 but later assumed addi-
tional responsibilities as director
of the School of Architecture's
student records and counseling
section.
He was elected to his current
term as city councilman in Ap-
ril. He had previously served
on the council and was a can-
didate for mayor in 1965.
A registered architect, Prof.
Holleman was a 1939 graduate
of Texas A&M University, where
he also received a Master of
Architecture degree in 1951.
He was a member of nurner••
ous professional organizations
and was past director of the
Texas Society of Architects. In
the late 1950's he was appoint-
ed by the governor to serve on
an advisory committee to the

was a member of the Rotary

Survivors include his widow,
Mrs. Mary Bess Holleman of
College Station; two sons, John.

and Mike Holleman, also of
College Station; three brothers,
Milton Holleman of Austin,
Kenneth Holleman of Sandia,
and Maurice Holleman of Pana-
ma City, Fla.; five sisters, Mrs.
John Miller of Georg West,
Mrs. J. B. McCarley of Luling,
Mrs. Jack Pearson of Alice,
rs. Ted Koehler of Poteet, and
iss Lothell Holleman of San-
dia; and his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Holleman of Sandia.
Pallbearers at the Holleman
services include W. D. Fitch,
Homer Adams, Les Palmer,
Lambert Wilkes, James Marsh,
Don Dale, Robert F. White, and
John Longley.
Mayor D. A. (Andy) Ander-
son said of •Holleman's death,
"In his passing, the city has sus-
tained a loss of a very able
councilman. He has worked dili-
gently on behalf of our commu-
nity. Speaking for myself, I will
surely miss him."
In tribute to the councilman,
the flag at the College Station
City Hall will be flown at half
mast.
