To the Editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to
thank the publishers of the Bryan Daily
Eagle for providing such a valuable
series of articles on the candidates run-
ning for City Commissioner in College
Station. Such a service is truly remark-
able in light of the statements I have
heard regarding the "separation" of the
sister cities, Bryan and College Station.
By providing this service, the Daily Eag-
le very clearly shows the spirit of co-
operation which is quite apparent, des-
pite the talk of rivalry and segregation
of the "two" communities.
I would further like to remind the citi-
zens of the College Station area to be
sure to vote this coming Saturday for the
City Councilman of their choice. The
Daily Eagle published a quite revealing
series of questions with the candidates'
answers in the Sunday edition for the
benefit of our citizens to read to aid their
decision regarding just which candidate
is the more qualified for the job and is
better versed in matters pertaining to the
governing of a community to provide for
tomorrow's needs which will soon be
today's demands on our city's services.
A finer guide to the qualifications of the
two candidates would undoubtedly be
hard to come by, unless, of course, the
Daily Eagle in maintaining its proven
high standards publishes another set of
articles on the subject of the candidates
and their respective qualifications and
views.
In summary, I would once again like
to thank the Daily Eagle for providing
this service to our community as a whole,
and I would urge all voters of the College
Station area to be sure to vote this Sat-
urday.
Sincerely,
Jay D. Belford
