The College Station Planning
and Zoning Commission has
decided to hold off a recom-
mendation for the extension and
improvement of either Welsh or
Fairview Street as a major
thoroughfare for north-south
traffic.
The commission met Monday
night before a room full of
citizens.
As discussion began, com-
mission chairman Codie Wells
said, "it will take considerable
study before we can make a
recommendation or report on
this."
One woman stood up and

spoke against extension of
Welsh Street. What about using
Wellborn Road instead of
Welsh?" she asked.
A man whose house would
either have to be purchased or
moved for extension of Welsh
voiced his opinion.
441 just ofn'extending a public
necessity north," he said. "And
I'm very much opposed to
having our house moved for
what I don't think is a public
necessity," he said.
Two other citizens, both with
homes that would be affected
by the extension, spoke against
the idea.
