Present: Louis Hodges -  Marilyn Randall -  Sherry Frisk - E Gerald Burgner -  William Wright -  Shirley Dupriest -  Thomas Smith -  Julie Schultz -  David Fujimoto -  Linda Harvell; City Council -  Kelly Kelbly; Interim Director-  Cory Raney; Staff Assistant II -  1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. Gerald Burgner 2. Sherry Frisk made a request for absence. Louis Hodges, made a motion to accept the absence request. Linda Harvell, second the motion. The vote was called, all were in favor, and the motion was passed unanimously 3. Marilyn Randall, made a motion to approve the September minutes. William Wright, second the motion. The vote was called, all were in favor, and the motion was passed unanimously. 4. There were not any visitors 5. Presentation, discussion, and possible action on the proposal for a Texas Historic Marker for Parkland Dedication in the City of College Station • CS Historical Project: Nothing to report • Cemetery Project: Nothing to report • Historic Marker Program: Nothing to report • HPC Website: Nothing to report • Historical Home Awareness: Discussion is being placed on hold until further notice. • Removal process for historic markers: Linda Harvell suggested the developments should be presented to city council. Then speaking with communications or the city manager’s office on spreading the word through the news/neighborhood. Gerald Burgner asked the committee how will the determination be made to which a marker should be removed. When the decision is made, what will be the protocol for the process of removing said marker? Julie Schultz inquired about the history information on the home. Will this information still be listed on the map? She stated this information is important for people to know. Gerald Burgner suggested highlighting the history of the homes in the monthly blog. Louis Hodges stated the history will still be on record for people to read about even if the home is no longer located on the map. Shirley Dupriest suggested making a new folder for this information to have access to it. Shirley stated she will look further into this topic and try to get information from surrounding areas on how they handle this type of information. William Wright suggested making the decision a motion amongst the committee and then discussing the options. Then discuss with legal on the possibilities to bring this motion to council. A meeting will be arranged for discussion on this process with Kelly Kelbly, Gerald Burgner, and Leslie Whitten. • Artifacts: Where Are They?: Linda Harvell spoke with individuals that are building the military museum at Veteran’s Park. She spoke with them about having display cabinets for the donated items to the historic committee. She stated this could be a possibility with fundraising and more discussions. Kelly Kelbly spoke with Chief Mann about the items being stored and he stated they will continue to store those items until further notice. Kelly Kelbly also spoke with Emily Fisher in capital projects and stated there will be some display cases in the new city hall building. There is still discussions being had on the details of these displays. Linda Harvell suggested having a HPC work day, to go through all of the donated items. This will be a later discussion considering the precautions due to COVID-19. Julie Schultz stated these items need to be archived, preserved, and accessible to the public. She stated the library could be a possible option. Kelly Kelbly stated she will invite the library’s new executive director Beatrice Saba to next month’s meeting for discussion on the possibilities of this proposal. No historical artifacts were presented. 7. Report by Parks Interim Director – Kelly Kelbly stated the HPC blog is being discussed and is still waiting on further decisions. 8. No upcoming local events or activities 9. Gerald Burgner stated the discussion topic, Historical Home Awareness will be placed on hold until further notice. 10. Motion made to adjourn by Shirley Dupriest, second by, Julie Schultz and carried by unanimous vote at 4:45 PM
