Marker 105 for Gaines West’s historical home was unanimously approved. A date was not set as to when the plaque was to be presented.
• HPC Website: Gerald Burgner wanted to know if the application has been added to the website. Kelly Kelbly stated that the application should be on the website and she will verify.
• Historic Business Designation: William Wright suggested moving this discussion to be put on hold for the time being. He is not going to reach out to any businesses at this time. Sherry Frisk spoke with Ben Liles at Park Cleaners about the award. He stated he was interested, but could not apply at this time with everything going on.
• Historical Home Awareness: William Wright performed an audit for homes with markers, and there about 5-6 homes to which he is unsure if they should have a marker or not. He
suggested writing a formal letter to try and get those markers returned to the city. Linda Harvell stated that William could try to get the markers back. However when the home is sold the marker is sold along with it which makes the situation more difficult to resolve. William Wright brought up the database for the Google Maps for historical homes with markers. Gerald Burgner inquired if the map had been updated. To which William Wright
stated he was unsure and had not reviewed it since February. William Wright requested that the database is updated with the new historic home markers and the ones that should not have a marker be removed. Kelly Kelbly stated the person in charge of project hold was keeping that information up to date. Since that position is now vacant, Parks is working with Ian Whittenton and PR to get this information updated. Shirley Dupriest made a suggestion
about making a motion process for removing a home from the database. William Wright suggested a 3 step removal process for historic homes. To which Linda Harvell agreed the owner should be notified and given a time period to respond. Gerald Burgner stated we will add this discussion to the next agenda.
• Documentary for COCS: William Wright reached out to College Station High School to
speak with the media department about this project, to which he has not received a response. He suggested this discussion should be put on hold for the time being. To which Gerald Burgner agreed.
