The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting. Present: Louis Hodges - Marilyn Randall - Sherry Frisk -

Linda Harvell; City Council - Reena Gonzalez; Business Services Manager - 1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. Gerald Burgner
2. There was not a request for absence. 3. Gerald Burgner, made a motion to approve the March minutes. Sherry Frisk, second the motion. The vote was called, all were in favor, and the motion was passed unanimously.
4. Elizabeth Cunha was present to observe what the committee does.
5. Presentation, discussion, and possible action on the proposal for a Texas Historic Marker for Parkland Dedication in the City of College Station
• CS Historical Project: Nothing to Report
• Cemetery Project: Sherry Frisk heard back from Austin and went down on June 2nd to
officially file the three documents. She was told that the certificate and final packet will take a little longer than usual, but the office considers the designation complete as of now. So as of June 3, 2020, College Station Cemetery is officially a Texas Historic Cemetery. On July 7th the Brazos County Historical Commission, the one that Henry Mayo is in charge
of is supposed to get together for a picture from Texas Historical commission present this
2019 Distinguished Service Award to Brazos County Historical Commission in recognition of its active and well-balanced preservation program.
• Historic Marker Program: Lacey Lively reformatted the application with the same
information. This will be posted online once it is approved. A suggestion was made to the application about the wording. Mayor Pro Tem Linda Harvell suggested to make this user friendly by having it a fillable format online. An application was submitted for 205 Timber St. CS, TX 77840. This home was a historic campus home that was later moved to this address. All members were in agreeance that HPC would accept the application as Marker 104. Marker
103 was presented in May 2020 on the porch of the home.
• CS Oral History Interviews & Educational Initiatives: Nothing to Report
• Exploring History Lunch Series: Nothing to Report
• Project Hold Report: Nothing to Report
• HPC Website: The website has some broken links but was fixed. Mayor Pro Tem Linda Harvell suggested a Facebook page to highlight some of HPC programs. David Schmitz
suggested talking to Jay Socol on what opportunities could be done. There are a few ideas that
could be added to website such as a blogs or “this day in history” update. Jay Socol also suggested to do a podcast interview.
• Historical Home Awareness: Nothing to Report
• Historic Business Award: William Wright reached out to a few businesses but have not heard anything as of yet.
• Historic Award: Nothing to Report
• Documentary for COCS: David Fujimoto suggested that in correspondence with the book, that a documentary could possibly be created to document those stories.
• Wish List: Nothing to Report
6. There were no new presentations or discussions for future agenda items.
7. Motion made to adjourn by Sherry Frisk, second by, Thomas Smith and carried by unanimous vote at 4:48 PM
