7) Establishing FY 2021 Roadway Safety Performance Targets
-Under FASTAct requirements, state DOT'S must set safety targets on an annual basis. The Texas
Transportation Commission took action to set safety targets for 2021. The FAST Act requires
MPOs to either adopt and support the state targets or set their own targets within 180 days of the
state setting its target. When the Policy Board and Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) reviewed
the safety targets last year, it was decided that the MPO should support the state target and not
try to set their own. The TAC recommended to the Policy Board that the state safety targets be
adopted and supported for FY 2021. Action Required. (See attachment.)
8) Presentation on Adding Brazos County Specific Improvement Data to the Texas 100 Website
-Dr. Tim Lomax, P.E. TexasA&MTransportation Institute Research Fellow will discuss how area
local governments, through the Technical Advisory Committee, can provide the Texas A&M
Transportation Institute with our mitigation plans for roadway improvements on local segments
contained in the Texas 100 Congestion List. This would allow citizens to better understand that
we are doing all we can to identify and address congestion hotspots.
