HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-25-20-4.6 - Resolution - 06/25/2020RESOLUTION NO. 06-25-20-4.6 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR CORONAVIRUS RELIEF FUND GRANT; DIRECTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AS THE CITY’S OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE OR HIS DESIGNEE TO ACT IN CONNECTION WITH THE APPLICATION AND TO PROVIDE SUCH INFORMATION AS MAY BE REQUIRE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of College Station, Texas (“City”) is a home-rule municipal corporation duly incorporated and chartered under the Constitution and laws of Texas; and WHEREAS, the City and other political subdivisions within its jurisdiction have used, and will continue to use, funds for necessary expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency and governor’s disaster declaration on March 13, 2020, with respect to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19); and WHEREAS, such funds were not accounted for in the budget most recently approved as of March 27, 2020, by the City or other political subdivisions and have been or will be incurred during the period that begins on March 1, 2020, and ends on December 30, 2020; and WHEREAS, the State of Texas (the “State”) is providing payments distributed in the form of grants to local units of government from the Coronavirus Relief Fund (“CRF”) established within section 601 of the Social Security Act, as added by section 5001 of the Coronavirus Act, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”); and WHEREAS, the City has authority to apply for a grant from the CRF and desires to authorize t he filing of the State’s required application, including all understandings and assurances contained therein, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: PART 1: That the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, hereby officially authorized the filings of the application, including all understandings and assurances contained therein, for a grant by the State from the CRF. PART 2: That the City Manager as the official representative of the City or his designee is directed and authorized to act in connection with the application and to provide such additional information as may be required. PART 3: That this Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage. ADOPTED this 25th day of June, A.D. 2020.
