AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL
ELECTION, HELD ON NOVEMBER 5, 2019, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING CITY A
MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBER PLACE 2.
RECITALS:
1. On July 25, 2019 the City Council ordered that a General Election be held on November
5, 2019 for the purpose of electing a Mayor and City Councilmember, Place 2.
2. Notice of this election was duly published in The Eagle on October 9 and 16, 2019 and in
La Voz Hispana on October 11 and 18, 2019.
3. A copy of the notice was posted on the bulletin board at City Hall on September 30, 2019.
4. This election was duly and legally held on November 5, 2019, in conformity with the
election laws of the State of Texas, and the results of the election have been certified and
returned by the proper judges and clerks.
5. The City Council of the City of College Station, Texas with the following members present:
Mayor Karl Mooney, Councilmembers Bob Brick, Jerome Rektorik, Linda Harvell, Elianor
Vessali, John Nichols, and Dennis Maloney have today considered the returns of the General
Election held on November 5, 2019.
6. It appears to the Council, and the Council finds, that the election was in all respects
lawfully held.
7. It appears to the Council, and Council finds, that the tabulation of the results of the
election is correct.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The General Election of November 5, 2019 was duly called, notice of the
election was given in accordance with law, and the election was held in accordance with law.
SECTION 2. The tabulation of votes cast in the General Election held on November 5,
2019, for the purposes stated in Recital 1 above, a copy of which is attached to and made a part
of this ordinance. is adopted as the official tabulation of the votes cast at the election, and the
tabulation will be filed and recorded in the official records of the City of College Station as the
official canvass of the election.
SECTION 3. The official canvass of the returns of the election reflects the following:
A. For the position of Mayor, the following votes were cast:
Karl P. Mooney 5,453
B. For the City Councilmember, Place 2:
John L. Crompton 3,287
Jerome Rektorik 2,881
SECTION 4. That Karl P. Mooney (unopposed) is elected to serve as Mayor; that John
L. Crompton received a majority of the votes and is elected to serve as City Councilmember,
Place 2.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this the 14th day of November 2019.
