MINUTES
BICYCLE, PEDESTRIAN, AND GREENWAYS
ADVISORY BOARD
Monday, July 15, 2019 3:00 PM

MEMBERS PRESENT: Linda Harvell, Dennis Jansen, Jorge Sanchez, Tina Evans, MiChal Hall
MEMBERS ABSENT: Kyle LeBlanc and Rebecca Brooker
STAFF PRESENT: Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenways Senior Program Manager
Venessa Garza, Assistant Director Molly Hitchcock and Board
Secretary Robin Macias
AGENDA ITEM NO. 1: Call to Order.
Chairperson Harvell called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 2: Hear Visitors.
There were no visitors who wished to speak.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 3: Consideration, discussion, and possible action to approve
absence requests.
• Kyle LeBlanc – July 15, 2019
Board Member Sanchez motioned to approve the meeting absences. The motion was seconded
by Board Member Jansen and was approved (4-0).
AGENDA ITEM NO. 4: Consideration, discussion, and possible action to approve
meeting minutes.
Board Member Jansen motioned to approve the meeting minutes from June 17, 2019. The
motion was seconded by Board Member Hall and was approved (4-0).
Board Member Evans arrived at 3:02 p.m.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 5: Presentation and discussion regarding an update on the
following items:
• TAMU Bicycle Share Program
Joe Brummer with VeoRide and Ron Steedly with Texas A&M University gave an update
regarding the bicycle share program.
There was general discussion amongst the board regarding the bicycle share program.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 6: Presentation and discussion regarding the Safe Routes to School
program.
Senior Program Manager Venessa Garza gave an update of what was discussed at the previous
meeting on June 17, 2019 regarding the Safe Routes to School program. She mentioned that
she will be applying for the grant for the Southwood Sidewalk Project and a resolution for
support will be going to Council on July 25, 2019.
Board Member Evans left the meeting at 3:46.
There was general discussion amongst the Board regarding the Safe Routes to School Program.
The Board decided to continue discussion next month regarding which Board member would be
interested in reaching out to school Parent Teacher Organizations.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 7: Presentation and discussion regarding the Bicycle, Pedestrian,
and Greenways Advisory Board calendar of upcoming meetings.
• July 18, 2019 ~ Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting ~ City Hall,
Council Chambers, 1101 Texas Avenue ~ 6:00 p.m.
• July 25, 2019 ~ Metropolitan Planning Organization ~ Active
Transportation Advisory Panel ~ City Hall, Administrative Conference
Room #2, 1101 Texas Avenue ~ 10 a.m.
• August 19, 2019 ~ Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenways Advisory Board ~
City Hall, City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room 1, 1101 Texas Avenue ~
3:00 p.m.
Board Member Hall notified the Board that she will be unable to attend the Metropolitan
Planning Organization meeting on July 25, 2019. The alternate representative Board Member
Jansen will be unable to attend as well.
Board Member Jansen notified the Board that he will be unable to attend the Bicycle, Pedestrian
and Greenways Advisory Board Meeting on August 19, 2019.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 8: Possible action and discussion on future agenda items – A Bicycle,
Pedestrian, and Greenways Advisory Board Member may inquire about a subject for
which notice has not been given. A statement of specific factual information or the
recitation of existing policy may be given. Any deliberation shall be limited to a proposal
to place the subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting.
Chairperson Harvell asked to have the information Board Member Sanchez found regarding the
Safe Routes to School Program on a future agenda.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 9: Adjourn.
The meeting adjourned at 3:52 p.m.
