HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/01/2019 - Regular Minutes - Historic Preservation Committee MINUTES Historic Preservation Committee Monday, June 3, 2019 – 4:00 pm Municipal Court 300 Krenek Tap Road College Station, Texas 77842 The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting. Present: Louis Hodges - √ Marilyn Randall - √ Sherry Frisk - x Gerald Burgner - √ William Wright - √ Shirley Dupriest - x Willie Blackmon - x Julie Schultz - √ David Fujimoto - √ Linda Harvell; City Council - √ Tiffany Gonzalez – Historical Records Archivist - √ 1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. by Gerald Burgner. 2. Sherry Frisk had a request for absence. Julie Schultz asked for a motion to approve. Lou Hodges second the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor. By a unanimous vote, the motion was passed. 3. Marilyn Randall, made a motion to approve the June minutes. William Wright, seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor and the motion passed unanimously. 4. There were no visitors present at this meeting. 5. CS Historical Project, David Fujimoto requested another year to research. He was given 2005. On Cemetery Projects, Lou talked about taking a searchable profile. He mentioned that if we had one person that has access to the Adobe Acrobat, we can be able to search online. The Historical Marker Program application had revisions that were made by Lou and Gerald. They mentioned that per Ron Kaiser, the city will not take anyone to court over a $300 marker. Linda and Julie mentioned that there should a protocall for taking that next step. All agreed to re-write in the application the “code violation” if the marker is taken or if the building structure is torn down. For the Oral History Interviews, Tiffany conducted an interview with Henry Mayo. Sent Julie Shultz and Richard Woodward their transcriptions for review. She will be interviewing the owner of Blackwater Draw. For the Exploring History Luncheons, Jerry moved to February 2020. David Fujimoto suggested the topic of the Museum of the American GI. For Project HOLD, Tiffany updated with newspaper clippings and CS photographs. Collaborated with Pediment Publishing to host a community scanning event at the Meyer Senior Center. 6. For upcoming events – Gerald and Lou asked to participate in the Booneville Days festival on th October 5 at the Brazos Center. A suggestion was brought up to make chuck wagon meals booth for HPC. We will discuss and make final decision next month. 7. There were no reports from the Parks Director. 8. There weren’t any presentations or discussion on future agenda items. 9. Presentations: There weren’t any presentations on historical items. 10. Motion made to adjourn by William Wright, seconded by Lou Hodtges, and carried by unanimous vote at 5:10PM.
