Historic Preservation Committee
Monday, November 06, 2017 – 4:00 pm

The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting.

1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m.
2. Ben Zimmer requested absences and it was approved.
3. The Historic Preservation Committee voted unanimously to approve the October minutes.
4. No visitors were present.
5. David Schmitz updated the Committee on the bids for The Historic Homes Tour Brochure, he stated
that Newman Printing was the lowest bidder and that they will print 2000 copies. We will notify the
committee once they are ready for distribution.
No new info on the College Station History Book has been received.
No Historic Marker applications were received.
Brooke will interview Marci Rodgers and Stephanie Simpson, both are retiring from the City of
College Station after many years of employment.
November will be the last lunch lecture for 2017. Ben and Marilyn are getting the speakers for 2018.
Brooke stated that she is still working on cleaning up and organizing Project Hold. She is making it
where things are lab eled and more user fr iendly. She is also searching for an unpaid intern.
6. David Schmitz announced that Marci Rodgers will retire in January 2018.
7. Rosie the Riveter statue will be dedicated at Veteran’s Park on December 07, 2017,
Veteran’s Day is Friday 10th at Veteran’s Park and Worldfest is November 18 at the
Brazos Expo.
8. The committee will work on a commendation letter for Parks and Recreation staff member
Marci Rodgers, honoring her hard work with the community and senior programming.
Once the letter is complete they will present it at a future Council meeting.
9. Lou Hodges brought items to pass around.
10. Meeting was adjourned at 5:10 p.m.
