HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/07/2018 - Regular Minutes - Historic Preservation Committee MINUTES Historic Preservation Committee Monday, May 07, 2018 – 4:00 pm Municipal Court 300 Krenek Tap Road College Station, Texas 77842 The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting. Present: Louis Hodges Gerald Burgner Sherry Frisk William Wright Willie Blackmon Chantal Vessali City Staff: Andrea Lauer Brooke Lisenbardt David Schmitz 1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. 2. Shirley Dupriest submitted an absence request and it was approved. 3. The Historic Preservation Committee voted unanimously to approve the April minutes. 4. Towanna Ford and Dr. Carolyn Walden were present representing the McCulloch Subdivision and Historical Marker applications they submitted. 5. The Historic Home Tour Brochure will possibly need to be updated to include some homes that were left out of the brochure. No new info regarding the College Station History Book. Lou passed out some ideas along with an email from Jane Cohen. More details to come. Sherry Frisk is continuing her research on the cemetery project and determined categories for this project. This will be available to view online once completed. Three Historic Marker applications were received and approved. 1202 Phoenix 1106 Phoenix 409 Holleman Drive Brooke Lisenbardt is in the process of conducting Oral History interviews, and has been talking to the McCulloch Neighborhood and is helping them with a community grant and Historic Marker applications. She will be leaving the City of College Station the first week in June. Ben Zimmer and Marilyn Randal are working on speakers for Explori ng History Lunch Lecture, they have speakers scheduled through August 2018. 6. David Schmitz had nothing to report. 7. No upcoming local or area historical programs to report. 8. Additional Historic markers from the McCulloch Subdivision will be on the June agenda. 9. Committee members brought historic items for the committee to look at. 10. Meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
