HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/05/2018 - Regular Minutes - Historic Preservation Committee MINUTES Historic Preservation Committee Monday, February 05, 2018 – 4:00 pm Municipal Court 300 Krenek Tap Road College Station, Texas 77842 The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting. Present: Committee: Louis Hodges (chair) Marilyn Randall Gerald Burgner Ben Zimmer Sherry Frisk Chantal Vessali City Staff: Andrea Lauer Brooke Lisenbardt Linda Harvell (City Council Liaison) 1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. 2. No absence requests were received. 3. The Historic Preservation Committee voted unanimously to approve the January minutes. 4. No visitors were present. 5. The Council update that Lou Hodges gave on January 25, 2018 is saved in Project Hold. 6. The committee discussed some future goals but will revisit this item at the next meeting when the newly appointed members will be present. 7. The Historic Home Tour Brochure has been distributed around town. Katherine Edwards will check ever y few weeks to see if the locations need to be restocked. No new information for the College Station History Book. No new Historic Marker Program applications were received. A suggestion was made to go on the local TV station and make the public aware of the program. Brooke is in the process of conducting Oral History interviews on Former College Station M ayors. Ben Zimmer and Marilyn Randal are working on speakers for Explori ng History Lunch Lecture, they have speakers scheduled through August 2018. Brooke stated that she is still working on cleaning up and organizing Project Hold. She is making it where things are lab eled and more user friendly. She is also searching for an unpaid intern. Brooke is also working on transcriptions from retired employees. Lou Hodges spoke to Lacey Lively in PR and she told him that the HPC Committee needs to start thinking about what information they would want to see on the HPC Webpage. 8. David Schmitz had nothing to update. 9. No upcoming local or area historical programs to report. 10. Historic Preservation Committee Goals for 2018 will be added to the March 2018 agenda. 11. Katherine Edwards brought historic items for the committee to look at. 12. Meeting was adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
