All students are required to take four solids., Health and Physical Education,
and at least one club. Any student may add Art, Orchestra, Choir, or Band
as a fifth solid; however, only those students with a scholastic average of
85 or better may add some other fifth solid. Students desiring to participate
in more than two clubs must have permission to do so from their homeroom
sponsor.

Most colleges have definite entrance requirements. Students who plan to go
to college should check the requirements peculiar to the school of their
choice. Students preparing for entrance to the Military Academy (4est
Point), the Naval Academy (Annapolis) or to Rice Institute should seek
specific advice from the principal. The high school library has college
catalogues available; please ask the librarian to help you.
Credits in the following subjects will meet requirements for entering most
colleges, including the University of Texas: English (3); Mathematics (1-2);
and two of the following: social studies, foreign languages, or natural
science; six additional units from the following: English, fine arts,
foreign languages, and vocation subjects.
