Junior Lifeguard
Registration begins Feb. 1 | $75 per person
Children will learn water rescues, non-certified CPR, First Aid, lifesaving skills, risk management, how to
run a facility, how to test water, how to run safety inspections and more. Registration includes a whistle,
lanyard, four-week pool pass and a final class lunch. Classes are 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Adamson Lagoon.

Xtra is a leisure-learning program that offers exciting classes to participants of all ages
on dance, business, arts and crafts, music & voice, language, self-improvement, fitness, computers,
special interest, sports, life enhancement and more.
Supplies
Class receipts will show materials needed before class begins. Some arts & crafts classes will have a
supply list for each student. Unless stated, supplies and textbooks are not included in the course fee.
Some classes may have an additional fee to cover other in-class materials.
Liabilities
Youth Xtra class leaders and instructors are knowledgeable and competent. We make no guarantees,
expressed or implied, that classroom instruction will result in specific gain. We cannot be held
responsible for any loss, material or otherwise, incurred while following an instructor’s directions.
Students take classes at their own risk, and Youth Xtra is not responsible for personal property left on
site. The City of College Station, CSISD, nor any of its agents is liable for any injury you may sustain
during participation in our programs.

to providing a positive, structured leisure time for youth in their “off” hours.

Camp YO! is a “youth opportunity” camp for 5th-

Cancellations & Refunds
Youth Xtra reserves the right to cancel classes, change times or locations, and substitute instructors as
deemed necessary. Classes will be canceled if minimum enrollment numbers are not met. Full refunds
are available for classes canceled by Youth Xtra. Other refund requests must be submitted earlier than
seven days prior to class start date, and a $20 processing fee will be charged. Refund delivery may take
up to two weeks. No refunds allowed for class withdrawals within seven days prior to start date.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Program
Registration begins Feb. 1 | $150 per person (pay in advance)
Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, students learn
patron rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED. Following
completion of the 37-hour course (Session I, II or III), participants will obtain a
two-year CPR/AED certification and a three-year Lifeguarding certification.
Attendance in the course does not guarantee certification. Requirements are:
• Candidates must be at least 15 years old and of mature and dependable character. To work for the
City of College Station, you must be at least 16 years old.
• Candidates must attend every class and pass written and practical exams.
• Candidates must swim 300 yards continuously using the following strokes in order: 100 yards of
front crawl using rhythmic breathing (side or front) and a stabilizing, propellant kick; 100 yards
of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence; 100 yards of front crawl and/or
breaststroke. *No time requirement.
• Candidates must, starting in the water, swim 20 yards using the front crawl or breaststroke, surface
dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting
point while maintaining two hands on the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps,
within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

1. No campfires allowed without prior approval.
2. No dunking booths, hot air balloons, pony rides, or livestock without prior approval.
3. Tents must be pre-approved and location coordinated with Parks Operations Division staff.
4. Pavilions may be used if they are not rented; however, no access will be allowed into kitchen or
restroom facilities.
5. Athletic Fields must be reserved separately from Pavilion Rentals. This must be done through the
Stephen C. Beachy Central Park office, 1000 Krenek Tap Road, 979.764.3486.
6. Dogs are to be kept under restraint at all times by means of a leash, except at Lick Creek Park
where the dog is required to be under “voice control.”
7. All wildlife in city parks is protected.
8. It is unlawful to cut or destroy vegetation.
9. All vehicles must park in designated areas on pavement only.
10. It is unlawful to wade or swim in park ponds.
11. All firearms, airguns, crossbows, and bows and arrows are prohibited.
12. It is unlawful to litter in city parks.
13. Non-city-related advertising in city parks is prohibited.
14. Community park curfews are 1-5 a.m. Neighborhood park curfews are 11 p.m.-5 a.m.
15. Any person wishing to sell any items (food, drinks, shirts, caps, etc.) in a park must apply for a Park
Vendor’s Permit at the Parks and Recreation Office (979.764.3410) and possibly a Health Permit
from the Brazos County Health Department (979.361.4450).
16. No off-road vehicles are allowed in city parks.
17. Golfing or (practice) driving of golf balls in the parks is prohibited.
18. Please obey all “FIELDS CLOSED” signs.
19. Glass bottles and containers are prohibited.
20. Alcohol may be consumed in city parks by adults 21 years of age or older. If you have a function
where alcohol is served, neither the alcohol nor anything else can be sold without a TABC license.
21. Fishing in park ponds is free and open to the public. Texas Community Fishing Lake special
regulations, as well as statewide regulations, apply to all city ponds. For special and statewide
regulations, fishing license information, and daily bag limits, contact Texas Parks and Wildlife.

• In addition to rental fees, a deposit will be charged and paid by the renter in advance of any
tournament. The deposit will vary depending on the type and size of the tournament.
• Additional fees may be assessed to the renter depending on the length and type of tournament in
order to cover expenses incurred by the City to facilitate the tournament.
• Game field prep and light fees are included in all-day rentals, but not in hourly rentals.
Southwood Community Center - Rental

The Southwood Community Center (SWCC) is conveniently located in the
Southwood Community Park just off of Rock Prairie Road. The center is
a great choice to hold your next birthday party, dance, family reunion or
corporate meeting. The facility includes a meeting room, game room,
computer lab, and kitchen with an ice machine. There is also a skate park, swimming pool and an
athletic complex nearby. Staff will even take care of your table and chair set up needs at no charge.
Non-resident rates range from $40 to $150 per hour. Resident rates range from $20 to $75 per hour.

Lincoln Recreation Center - Rental

The Lincoln Recreation Center (LRC) is located on the corner of Holleman
Drive and Eleanor Street, near College Station’s Historic South Side District.
The LRC can accommodate most social gatherings indoor and outdoor,
athletic competitions (volleyball and basketball), and small to large
meetings. There is a community room, multi-purpose room, game room and a gymnasium available to
rent. The outdoor area is perfect for special events and includes a seasonal splash park, bench tables
and playground. Parking is available with 120 spaces and five handicap spots.
Non-resident rates range from $60 to $550. Resident rates range from $30 to $275.

College Station Conference Center

The College Station Conference Center is a perfect affordable option
for a rental facility! Reserve one of the rooms for your next conference,
reunion, business, wedding, or social event. The Conference Center offers
seven rooms in various sizes plus a large catering kitchen, a beautiful
gallery hall, a wooden deck and two outside patios. Facility amenities
include audio-visual equipment, internet access, a mirror ball, a piano, wedding trellis, lattice screens,
tables and chairs. Our friendly, experienced staff can assist to make your event a success!
Non-commercial rates range from $50 to $600. Commercial rates range from $60 to $600.

Wolf Pen Creek

The Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater is the premier concert venue in the
Brazos Valley. The facility, capable of hosting more than 7,500 patrons,
boasts of quality shows, beautiful grounds and down-home hospitality.
Wolf Pen Creek welcomes promoters and private renters by offering a
professional staff with reasonable rental rates! The Green Room features
a balcony overlooking Wolf Pen Creek, space for formal catering preparations, a full-sized refrigerator
and an ice machine. The plaza is great for more intimate outdoor gatherings such as family reunions,
birthday parties and small concerts. Rental includes a small pavilion, a concessions patio area, six picnic
tables and a restroom area. The plaza accommodates up to 250 people.
Amphitheater rates range from $500 to $1,200. Green Room rates range from $80 to $375. Plaza rates
range from $110 to $160.
