up locations will be at Post Oak Mall, the
Arts Council of Brazos Valley and the Colgate
Street entrance of Wolf Pen Creek Park.
Handicap parking will be available at the
Colgate entrance off of Eastmark. Pets,
glass containers and alcohol are not
allowed on the premises.

T he City of College Station continues
its holiday tradition with Christmas
at the Creek, a fun-filled weekend
on Dec. 6 and 7 at Wolf Pen Creek Park,
located at 1015 Colgate Drive.
On Friday, Dec. 6, bring blankets or chairs
to enjoy a musical and a movie. Local
playwright Mark Taylor wrote a musical
just for Christmas at the Creek that will
premiere three times during the evening.
In conjunction with Movies in the Park, The
Santa Clause will start at 8:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, children are invited
to create festive wonders at the Lowe’s
Christmas Crafts Corner. Find the perfect
gift at the Holiday Vendor Village where a
variety of vendors will be selling arts, crafts,
jewelry, candles and more. Guests can also
skate on the synthetic ice rink, go down the
Log Jammer Extreme Slide, take a ride on
Paw Paw’s Party Train, play on inflatables
and create a yummy snack in the Kroger
s’more area. Lastly, be sure to stay for the
Holiday Concert with live entertainment by
Marcia Ball as well as other local dance and
gospel performances.

Sessions are held Tuesday nights from 6:30
to 9:30 p.m. at the College Station Police
Department for 11 weeks each spring and
fall. Spring session runs Feb. 4 to April 22,
with no class during spring break.

Jingle Bell Fun Run
Sunday, Dec. 8 - 1:45 p.m.
The 24th Annual Jingle Bell Fun Run is set
for Sunday, Dec. 8 at 1:45 p.m. and will
be followed by the Bryan-College Station
Christmas Parade. This two-mile run starts
at the corner of University Drive and South
College Avenue and ends at the corner of
Texas Avenue and Villa Maria.
Entry fee is $15 before Nov. 15 and $20
between Nov. 16 and 29. Race shirts will be
provided to those who register before Nov. 15.
Participants can register for the race at

Brazos Valley Senior Games
Register from Jan. 13 to Feb. 7
The City of College Station is hosting
the 2014 Brazos Valley Senior Games,
in affiliation with the Texas State Senior
Games Association, Feb. 20-23.
Ages 50+ can compete in track & field,
swimming, 3-on-3 basketball, cycling,
horseshoes, washers, tennis, bowling,
road race, pickleball, golf, ladies volleyball,
42, race walk or disc golf. Gold, Silver and
Bronze medals will be awarded in each
event and age group.
Registration runs Jan. 13 to Feb. 7 and the
fee is $20 plus additional fees per event.

fire and police departments? Well, you have
three opportunities to do so this spring:
citizens university
Jan. 27-april 14
In Citizens University, you’ll get to talk to
those who build budgets, construct capital
projects, plan for growth, keep the lights on
and neighborhoods safe within the City of
College Station. It begins Jan. 27 and runs
through April 14, with no classes scheduled
during spring break (March 10). Sessions
are conducted Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m.

citizens Fire academy
Feb. 20 – may 14
This 11-week learning program is designed
to increase awareness about the College
Station Fire Department’s mission and
daily operations. The course will cover a
variety of hands-on topics. CPR and First Aid
instruction will also be offered.
Classes will be conducted on Mondays from
6:30 to 9:30 p.m. from Feb. 20 to May 14
at city fire stations and the Brayton Fire
Training Field. A special Saturday session
will feature a live fire exercise. Participants
must be at least 18 years old.
