Possession or discharge of fireworks within the city limits of College Station or Bryan, or within 5,000 feet of the city limits, is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $2,000. CITY OF COLLEGE STATION Apply for Citizens University Register now through Jan. 11 It’s unlikely that your federal government would open its doors to you for several weeks to meet those in charge, to ask questions and to share your opinions. Odds are slim of such happening at the state level, either. But that’s exactly what we’re doing at College Station City Hall: Inviting you to be part of our annual Citizens University! You will get to talk to those who build budgets, construct capital projects, plan for growth, keep the lights on and neighborhoods safe. The free course begins Jan. 28 and runs through April 15, with no classes scheduled during spring break. Sessions are conducted Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. Participants must be at least 21 years old, a Brazos County resident, registered to vote locally and not be candidates for political office. We’re now printing in black and white, and on a lighter stock of paper. We’re also producing your Inside College Station six times a year, rather than every month. As you might’ve guessed, the reason for these changes is to trim costs wherever possible, and these measures will save the city a significant amount of money. Don’t forget, there are plenty of additional ways to receive information about College Station as often as you want: social media, Suddenlink Channel 19, newspaper ads, our website, radio/TV interviews, local news, and more. . . . . . . . . . . .
