AGENDA ITEM NO. 1: Discussion of 1997 departmental activities and Year End Report.
Director of Development Services Callaway and City Planner Kee explained the departmental activities
during 1997. They explained that during 1997 the Building Division, which includes Building Permits,
Inspection, and Energy, was relocated to the Development Services main office. The front office now
includes a combined support staff. The functions of the Building Division includes permits, inspections,
property standards, code maintenance, and Energy Conservation. Mr. Callaway explained the functions
of all other areas within the Development Services Department, which include Transportation,
Development Review, Development Engineering, and Planning. He stated that the Engineering section
responsible for Capital Improvements has been moved out of the Development Services Department
and consolidated with the Public Works Department. During 1997, the Development Services
Department accomplished the adoption of the Comprehensive Plan, a Gated Community Ordinance, the
relocation of the Taco Bell Driveway, Rock Prairie Road opening, several changes in the Building
Code, several Zoning Ordinance Amendment, the adoption of two impact fee areas, Kyle Widening,
Bee Creek Drainage, Wellborn Road Pedestrian Signals, and updated the Street Classifications/Design
Standards.
Several charts and graphs were shown indicating historical activity for planning cases, building permits,
and inspections.
