MINUTES OF THE PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
October 21, 1968
MEMBERS PRESENT: Acting Chairman Codie D. Wells, Jim O'Brien, Jim
Gardner, Everett Janne and Phillip Steen, Jr.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Joe Sawyer
VISITORS PRESENT: Messrs. Bill Cooley, Bill Fitch, R. J. Bading,
Bill Kling and C. Dobrovolny
The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M. in the Council Room
of the City of College Station.
On motion by Mr. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Janne, minutes of the October 7
regular meeting and October 8 special meeting were approved. Motion carried.
On motion by Mr. Janne, seconded by Mr. O'Brien, the request for Area
Progress Corporation for rezoning Lots B and C, Section 11. in the Glade to District
•No. 3, Apartment House District, was approved. The request for Plat A of this Area
Progress Corporation will be considered at the next regular meeting of the commission.
On motion by Mr. Janne, seconded by Mr. O'Brien to rezone the North 720
feet of Block 3, Breezy Heights Addition to Number 3 zone, Apartment Houses (Lots
8 - 21) was disapproved. Motion carried.
The request for rezoning 66.3 acres of Dobrovolny property adjacent to
County Road was brought up before the commission again. Mr. Bob Bading and
Mr. Charles Dobrovolny represented the property owners in this request. Mr. Wells
informed them that a formal letter signed by the property owners would need to be
submitted requesting this rezoning. Mr. Bading said that this would be submitted
before the next regular commission meeting.
On motion by Mr. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Janne, the request of Lloyd
Smith and Grady Cates for approval of a plat for apartment units on University Drive
and Avenue D was disapproved. It was suggested that the developer or builder must
meet all the requirements oar zoning and street regulations before their next submittal.
Mr. Fitch came before the commission and outlined his ideas on the
traffic flow on his plat of Southwood Addition.

On motion by Mr. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Janne, approval of the
preliminary Culpepper Plaza Plat was suggested if all street standards, engineering
standards, etc. , are met and a total 20 foot easement along the north side is met.
Motion carried. Mr. Gardner voted no. This will be sent to the Council for their
approval.
