May 16, 1966
5:00 P.M. City Hall
Present: Burns, Schleider, Horne, Preston and Cooper. City Engineer
Bardell.
Visitors: Reiser, Mayo, Fitch, and Councilman Adams.
Absent: Smith, Parker, Janne, Goehring.
1. Minutes of May 9 meeting were corrected to show Schleider in charge
of extraterritorial planning and Cooper as liaison with Texas A&M Univer-
sity, and Janne with the Parks Board. Other commission members to serve
as liaison with various city appointed boards as shown. Motion by Burns,
seconded by Cooper. Motion carried.
2. Request by Dr. Reiser to plant circular area in Cul-de-sac on Shady
Drive was considered. Previous action by City Council was reviewed.
Maintenance and viability of planting were discussed as well as precedent
which would be established. On motion by Cooper and seconded by Preston,
action on the request was tabled until June meeting of commission in order
to consider shrubbery survival, traffic flow and parking.
3. The preliminary and final plat of Ridgefield Re-Subdivision was
411 presented by Mr. Bill Fitch. It was recommended that "Alley" designations
be changed to "Easement". It was pointed out that a final plat was
approved for this area by the council in 1954 and that changes should be
indicated on this plat. Mr. Fitch agreed to make these changes and on
this basis and the statement by Mr. Bardell that the plans were adequate
in terms of easements, drainage, and utilities.
(a) Schleider moved and Preston seconded recommending approval of
the preliminary plat. Motion carried.
(b) Cooper moved and Horne seconded recommending to the council
approval of the final plat. Motion carried.
4. Statement of appreciation made to commission by Fitch on time and
effort given to planning to avoid problems.
5. Proposed routes to East Loop were discussed. Commission recommends
to City Council that Sulphur Springs (FM 60) be given first priority as
a connection with the East Loop. Motion by Preston, seconded by Horne;
Motion passed (Schleider abstaining) .
6. Park plan near City Cemetery was briefly discussed. Janne will be
responsible for report to commission at June meeting.
7. Chairman Burns asked that thought be given to deed restrictions as
they relate to City Planning and Zoning.
8. Following informal discussion of property acquisition for streets,
meeting adjourned at 7:10 P.M.
