1. Call to Order
The 75th Anniversary Committee was called to order by Chair Linda Harvell at 8:30 a.m. on October 11, 2012 in the College Station City Hall, 1101 Texas Avenue, College Station, TX 77840.
2. Hear Visitors
There were no visitors.
3. Consider Approval of Previous Minutes
MOTION: The Committee voted to approve the minutes. The motion carried unanimously.
4. Chair Report
Chair Linda Harvell reported developments since last meeting. Chair proposed to committee that since the anniversary was fast approaching, that the committee focus mainly upon preparations
for Bush Library-related activities, and that the previously proposed Veteran’s Park event be replaced with a kickoff event for the Library exhibit. Other activities that complement
Bush Library activities will continue, such as Cushing library exhibit and other events throughout 2013. Committee agreed.
Linda Harvell announced the most current football schedule, below:

Based upon this schedule, committee agreed to plan for October 26th as the tentative date for the exhibit opening event, contingent upon verification by Bush library staff that the date
is appropriate for them.
NOTE: Subsequent to Meeting TAMU Schedule was revised and November 2nd was presented as a potential date for the exhibit opening event.
5. Committee Reports:
a. P/R and Marketing – Mike Neu
Mike Neu reported that media had put out preliminary spots and website content for the 75th Anniversary. Committee discussed future marketing plans such as television, radio, and online
content. The dedicated 75th Anniversary website is not yet live, but content is being developed.
b. Exhibits
Mike Neu reported on exhibit progress. Specific exhibits are still being developed.
Committee suggested that oversized items such as automobiles and firetrucks could be staged outside of the exhibit entrance. Allison Meserole and Mike Neu will work together to develop
content for the history of local media. Jerry Cooper suggested that framed pictures of campus houses located in the conference center could be used for exhibits.
Neu reported that new content is being captured. The ongoing call for stories has been getting responses. Neu reported that Communications has a high quality audio recorder available
for use during oral history interviews. Linda Harvell stated that Kathleen Heaton may be willing to loan items from her home for use in exhibits, as well as her Father’s papers. H.L.
Heaton was the Registrar at Texas A&M for many years.
Committee then discussed additional venues for exhibit content, such as Cushing library, as well as cross-marketing all annual events held in 2013 with the 75th anniversary. Committee
agreed that proposed banners could be utilized at multiple venues. Mike Neu suggested that sponsor names could be displayed on banners.
c. Need Sub-Committee Chairs for Various Activities
Birthday Dinner
Homecoming/Reunion – Anne Boykin
Chair Harvell stated that since the Committee is planning to focus on Bush Library events, Reunions and the Homecoming can still be focused around the Bush Library exhibit opening event.
Tribute to local Veterans
Committee discussed contacting the local Veterans of Foreign Wars for veterans’ related activities, as well as the Museum of the American G.I.
Entertainment for the event at the Bush Library – Tracy Paine
Vintage Car Display – Sara Hentz and B.B. Holland
Churches – Margaret Godfrey
Exploring History Luncheons – Linda Harvell
Texas A&M
Corps of Cadets – M.D. Marshall
M.D. Marshall was absent. Committee discussed contacting the TAMU Corps Museum for Corps of Cadet history content for use in exhibits.

6. New and Other Business
THE NEXT MEETING OF THE 75th ANNIVERSARY PLANNING COMMITTEE IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2012.
Committee agreed that this upcoming meeting will be more of a workshop. The primary focus will be formulation of a preliminary budget.
7. Adjournment
MOTION: There being no further business, the Regular Meeting of the 75th Anniversary Committee was adjourned at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012.
