MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BRYAN LIBRARY BOARD
AUGUST 9, 1978
The Bryan Public Library Board of Trustees met on August 9, 1978 in the
Reference Room of the library.
Present were Mrs. R. J. Holmgreen, President of the Board, Mr. Travis B. Bryan,
Jr. , Mrs. C. J. Allen, Mrs. Jesse Flores, and Mrs. Bookman Peters.
Absent were Mrs. R. H. Harrison, III, and Mrs. Willie Pruitt.
Under regular business, the minutes of the July meeting were approved as written.
The statistics were examined and discussed.
Mrs. Peters moved acceptance of the booklist and Mr. Bryan seconded it.
Mayor Richard Smith was present at this meeting. He discussed the problem of
patron complaints and the proper procedures to handle these situations. The Board
discussed this problem and recommended that any patron complaints be directed to the
librarian.
The librarian will meet with the person and discuss the situation, which may
be referred to the Library Board for further clarification.
In further action, the Library Board feels that measures need to be taken to
correct the inadequate conditi6nsexisting in the library's basement. Mayor Smith
examined the basement and will recommend that the city engineer examine this
problem and make the necessary suggestions for improvement.
The meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
Mrs. R. J. Holmgreen, President Mrs. Linda Pringle, Librarian
and Secretary to the Board
