OF THE BRYAN+ COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD
• March 16, 1999
On the 16th day of March 1999,the Bryan+ College Station Public Library Advisory Board of the cities of
Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in a regular meeting in the meeting room at the Bryan Public_,.Library,
201 E. 26th Street,Bryan, Texas, and the following members were present:

2. Also present were Mrs. Clara B. Mounce, Community Librarian and Mrs. Laura E. Mills, secretary/Library.
3. President Larry Ringer called the meeting to order.
4. The previous minutes for January 1999 were approved as distributed in the mailout.
5. Monthly statistics for January and February 1999 were discussed. Mrs. Mounce stated that over 1,000
• books were added to the College Station collection in February. A new librarian reported for work at the
College Station Library this week.
6. Business: A. Mr. Ringer stated that the by-laws of the Library Board requires election of officers annually;
therefore, the floor was open for nominations for the office of President. The motion was made by Dave
Moore to re-elect Larry Ringer as President and Bill Barzak as Vice-President. Seconded by Mary Chauvin,
there was no discussion and the motion passed.
B. Mrs. Mounce provided the board with a summary of statistics from the Annual Report (copy attached). It
was noted that overall circulation was up by 7.22% Out-of-county users increased 91.7% from the prior fiscal
year.
7. B Mrs. Mounce stated that the Carnegie Library Restoration project is almost complete and possession of
the building is scheduled for April 7th or 8th. She commented that the light fixtures are dramatic on the first
floor; the carpeting is being installed on the second floor this week, the window blinds have been ordered in a
white color, and the capitals for the columns will be poured and set in place in the next several weeks. She
stated the pigeons remain a health problem and nuisance. Accessories such as chairs and rugs are being
selected. She stated that the Library Assistant's position for the Carnegie Center has been upgraded to a
Reference/Information Service Librarian
position.
8. There were no requests for the May 18th agenda.
9. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
