OF THE BRYAN COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD
• May 18, 1999
On the 18th day of May 1999,the Bryan+College Station Public Library Advisory Board of the cities of
Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in a regular meeting in the meeting room at the Bryan Public Library,
201 E. 26th Street, Bryan, Texas, and the following members were present:

2. Also present were Mrs. Clara B. Mounce, Community Librarian and Mrs. Laura E. Mills, secretary/Library.
3. President Larry Ringer called the meeting to order. Emily Mallard was introduced as the new
Reference/Information Services Librarian for Bryan Library.
4. The previous minutes for March 1999 were approved as distributed in the mailout.
• 5. Monthly statistics for March and April 1999 were discussed. Mrs. Mounce stated that April showed
circulation was about evenly distributed between Bryan and College Station. Internet use was started at the
Bryan Library in late April.
6. Business: A. Mrs. Mounce reported that the Junior League of Bryan/College Station, Inc. will assist
funding of the Summer Reading Club by donating $7,000. The funds are used to pay performers for programs,
purchase supplies for craft activities, and provide a free book to each child who completes the reading log.
She stated that College Station hosts the activity on Tuesdays whereby overflow crowds may attend
performances on Wednesdays at the Bryan Library.
7. A. Mrs. Mounce stated that the Carnegie Library Restoration project is almost complete. A rededication
ceremony is scheduled for sometime in July. The Friends of the Sterling Evans Library have requested a tour
on the Carnegie Center on July 31, 1999. The Library Board walked to the Carnegie Library for a tour.
8. The Library Board may meet in the Carnegie Center on July 20, 1999.There were no requests for the
agenda.
9. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
