On the 214 day of May, 1996,the Library Board of the City of Bryan, Texas convened in a regular session in the auditorium of the Bryan Public Library,201 E. 26th Street, Bryan, Texas, and the following members were present: 2. Mounce, City Librarian;Ms. Angela Alford, College Station Branch Librarian;Mrs. Nan Ross, Senior Reference Librarian;Mrs. Kathleen Dill, Youth Services/Automation Librarian; and Mrs. Laura E. Mills, secretary/Library. David Moore, Vice President called the meeting to order in the absence of the President. 3. There were no visitors present. • 4. The previous minutes for March 1996 were approved as read. 5. Monthly statistics for the months of March and April 1996 were discussed. A new people counter was installed with the 3-M Security System replaced due to fire and smoke damage. 6. In committee reports, Mr. Barzak reported that the Task Force Committee for the new College Station Library had traveled to several Texas cities to observe other libraries. 7. In the librarians' reports, Ms. Alford reported that business is good. The book drop had been painted. School visits were in progress to promote the Summer Reading Club. Mrs. Ross stated that reference was busy and shelves had been shifted in that area. Mrs. Dill commented that the Summer Reading Club Kick-off would be June 5th with activities on the library lawn and 300-500 children were expected to participate that day. As for the automation project, Mrs. Dill reported that bids for the cabling for the system were due by May 28th, with completion of this job scheduled for the last week of June. Mrs. Dill and Cathie McQuistion will travel to Provo,Utah for a 21/2 day training session with Ameritech Corp. staff to learn about the system and installation. Onsite training for library staff is scheduled in August. Target date for public access is October, 1996 and thus far the time-line for completion of necessary goals has been timely. 8. In old business Mrs. Mounce stated that it was determined that there is some lead paint in the Carnegie Library but no asbestos. Another meeting with the architect will be scheduled in June. The College Station Library Committee will hold a charette process May 28 and 29 for community input. 9. There were no requests for items for the agenda. 10.
