| 0 Jerilynn Williams presented several changes in circulation
|
procedures. Currently the procedure is that a patron may
check out and renew any number of books they desire. Also,
reserves are allowed to be placed on any type of material the
library handles, and school teachers are allowed to check out
materials for six weeks. Because the City Librarian and
Associate City Librarian feel that the Library should offer
1 as much material as possible the following procedures are

being considered: 1 ) that the number of books a patron may
check out is not limited, however, the number of renewals is
limited to five books; 2) that reserves may only be placed on
books and other material that is classified, which will not
includes reserves on art prints, paperback books, records,
etc. ; 3) that the six-week check out period for books allowed
school teachers be eliminated. The Board supported the three
proposed changes in circulation procedures.
Mrs. Mounce reported that Westlaw, a computerized legal
research database, will be added to the law library soon, at
no cost to the Library. The computer will be in the
administrative workroom and Brazos County Bar Association
members will log in and out of the system on an honor basis.
Judge Tom McDonald 's office will receive and process all
billing information.
1 The Bryan Public Library hosted a reception and meeting of

area school librarians on November 7. Mrs. Mounce felt the
meeting was successful and that the librarians are very
supportive of the concept of the "Johnny Wonder" column in
The Eagle. The idea proposes that questions be solicited
from school children and then answered by one librarian with
the suggested title for the column to be "Look to your
Library" or "Ask Your Librarian. "
Youth Day in Government was held on November 14 and Mrs.
Mounce reported that she enjoyed the company of two young
students who desired to be City Librarian for the day. The
two students gained insight on services the library provides
and the responsibilities of the City Librarian.
Mr. Madeley stated the Board would not meet in December , but
that the Board would like to bring cookies and treats for the
Library staff to enjoy the week before the Christmas holiday.
10. There was no request for items for the agenda.
11. The meeting was adjourned at 6: 35 p.m.
