Members Present: E. E. Burns, Jon Denton, Anne Hazen, Dorothy Hernandez, Colleen Risinger,
Jean Roberts, Ron Silvia and Joanna Yeager

Staff Present: David Schmitz, Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation Department;
Peter, Lamont, Recreation Superintendent and Marci Rodgers, Senior Services Coordinator
Visitors: Frank Duchmascio
Call to order The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m. by Ron. Silvia,
Chairman. Mr. Frank Duchmasclo was introduced as a new committee member

beginning in July.
Presentation, discussion and possible action concerning a proposal on the use of
e Teen Center as a Senior Center. Peter Lamont and David Schmitz stated that
the City Council's annual retreats scheduled to begin on June 17th and one agenda
item included discussion of the use of the Teen Center as strictly a Senior Center.
Staff asked the Committee to present their views on this proposal. Members asked
Mr. Lamont questions concerning the newly designed skate park that will be
constructed near the Teen Center. Members shared their concerns regarding changing
the cent Teen Center into a full-time Senior Center. Anne Hazen made the motion
that, "The Senior Advisory Committee enthusiastically supports the efficient use of
the building and seniors will take whatever hours given." Joanna Yeager seconded
the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
HI. Adjourn The meeting adjourned at 10:55 a.m.
Anne Hazen made the motion at the June 28, 2010 regular meeting ng to amend the
minutes of the Special Meeting held on June 16, 2010 to read: "The consensus of the
members in attendance was that the seniors want to share the Teen Center with the
youth and adamantly opposed displacing the youth." Jean Roberts seconded the
motion and the motion passed. The minutes were approved unanimously with the
amendment.
