PLEASE TRY TO CONTACT THE ABOVE PERSON AT LEAST 48 HOURS BEFORE THE SCHEDULED TIME OF THE MEETING SO THAT YOUR REQUEST MAY BE ACCOMMODATED. 1 i MINUTES of A REGULAR MEETING BRYAN+COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD March 18, 2008 On the 18t1i day of March 18, 2008, the Bryan+College Station Public Library System Advisory Board of the cities of Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in a regular meeting at the Bryan Public Library, 201 E. 261'Street,Bryan,Texas, and the following members were present: 1. Also present were Clara Mounce, Community Librarian; David Gerling, City of College Station, Joey Dunn, Deputy City Manager, City of Bryan, and Laura Mills,Adm. Asst. 3. There were no visitors. The board welcomed Charles Smith, new College Station library board member. 4. The minutes of the meeting for January 15, 2008 were approved as distributed. 5. The monthly stats for January and February 2008 were discussed. 6. A. In old business, David Gerling provided handouts that summarized the proposal for the Library expansion project. He will make a presentation to the College Station Capital Improvement Project Committee scheduled for that evening,Tuesday,March 181'1. 7. A. The election of officers was the next agenda item. Sonia Gangotena made a motion to elect Larry Ringer as president; seconded by James Bradford, the motion carried. Mary Fran Troy made a motion to elect Sonia Gangotena as Vice-President. Seconded by Charles Smith,the motion carried. B. Mr. Ringer encouraged the board members to attend the meeting of the Capital Improvement Project Committee that evening. 8. In the librarian's report, Mrs. Mounce stated that she is preparing the budget for the next fiscal year. She included funds to reupholster and replace cushions for the chairs and sofas at the Bryan Library. She did not ask for additional book money in the next budget. The annual report is finished and has been mailed to the Texas State Library. She announced that the library will remain open and conduct outside children's activities during the Texas Reds Event scheduled for June 21, 2008. She stated that some book browsers and additional shelving are on order for both the Bryan and Larry Ringer Libraries. The Friends of the Library will pay for these additional units. The stats show that the new databases are being used, especially the Chilton's vehicle repair database. Mrs. Mounce said that she will again organize the author's autographing area at the Texas Library Association conference in Dallas to be held in April. 9. The next meeting will be May 20, 2008 at the Carnegie History Center. Contact Laura Mills in the administrative office at 979-209-5614 if there are agenda items to be discussed. 10.
